As she got older, her brother started to get overprotective which started to create tension between them. Around this same time, Deryn discovered her love of swimming and deep water diving. When she was sixteen, she started learning how to scuba dive. As she got older, her relationship with her brother got even weaker, only starting to improve within the last few months. 11.
