Chapter 9

~ 2 Years Later ~

Amaterasu was able to claim herself as the Carnation Pillar.

Reincarnation

Amaterasu went up to the Final Selection area to praise Kanao Tsyuri.

She came without her cloak, her sword, and her bag.

She spotted Kanao and hugged her from behind

"I'm proud of you," she exclaimed letting go of the hug

"It wasn't that hard," she mumbled

Kanao always spoke few to Amaterasu but it was more than what she does to other people.

"I have to go but tell your sister that I said hi," she waved

Just as Amaterasu was about to walk away she spotted a familiar redhead.

She walks up to him

"Hey are you Tanjiro?" she asked

The boy turned around

"Yeah. Who are you?" he asked

Amaterasu laughed

"I'm sorry I forgot you don't know me. I'm a Demon Slayer and I work for the princess. The girl who helped you and your sister from Giyu two years ago," she smiled

His smiled brighten

"Oh please tell her I'm grateful for what she had done for me and my sister. I haven't seen her much around though so I couldn't say it myself," he exclaimed

"Yeah as a princess she always has someone guarding her. She is not easy to get in contact with unless you are high ranking like me. But she told me about you and I thought it would be best if I met you myself. My name is Amaterasu," she chuckled

She could tell Tanjiro was tired I mean when she took the Final Selection it wasn't hard to sudden fall.

"How about I walk you to back to the mountain just in case you need help," she suggested 

"If I'm not taking your time then I would love to," he smiled

They both headed toward Urokodoki's place. Tanjiro always tumbled and fell but always came back up. It was a quiet walk. They have nothing to be talking about because there was nothing they knew about each other.

"You know you and the princess have a similar smell but you seem to have a more happy smell," Tanjiro said out of nowhere

Amaterasu sighed

"Oh I'm sorry," he said trying not to hurt her

"No, I'm just surprised you can smell that. Most people can't tell if someone is happy or not and that's what hurts the most. The princess and I have similar stories but we have different responsibilities so we aren't compared easily. When I heard about your story it just brought hope that I can be happy with my life even if everything is gone," she rambled

"Are you Ama?" he asked

Amaterasu had a confused look in her face

"Not most people call me by that name. How did you hear it?" she asked

"Sabito told me in some kind of ghost form I guess. I thought he was alive because he trained me to cut a boulder but I guess it was his ghost form. He told me once he was free he would watch over Ama and Gu," he explained

Amaterasu seld tears on her face as a smile appeared

"Thank you. I never thought I would be able to live with myself to think his life was cut short but at least I know his soul will be free," she gave a warm smile to him 

They both finally reach the bottom of Mt. Sagiri. Tanjiro uses the last of his strength to make it back to Urokodaki's house. 

Nezuko suddenly kicks open the door and casually strolls outside, surprising the pair.

Nezuko quickly notices Tanjiro and embraces him. Tanjiro cries and asks why his sister slept so long. 

Urokodaki comes out to see the trio. He runs up to embraces them children as his own.

Urokodaki commends Tanjiro for passing Final Selection and warns him about Blood Demon Art. 

Urokodaki believes Nezuko recovers her strength by sleeping instead of consuming flesh.

Amaterasu walks up the mountain more and walks up to the place where the kids played around through the trees. It was like the moonlight was playing memories of the past.

"Sab... look how much I have grown? Do you remember all the times you promised to take me and Gu out to see the world? Well, I saw a part of it and I wish you were there. Gu and I have gotten close but it's not like I see him every day. I hope you stay by my side because my sword goes out for you," she smiled

"Amaterasu!" Urokodaki calls out 

Amaterasu bends down to the ground and touches in lightly. A salmon-colored flower pop out the ground.

She smiles and rushes down back to the house.

She sees Tanjiro and Urokodaki sitting on the floor.

"Amaterasu why don't you show Tanjiro your sword," Urokodaki suggested

She pulls out her sword and shows it to Tanjiro. Her sword is a mixture of colors but is holographic.

~ 1 week ~

Amaterasu says goodbye to them and heads over to the nearest town to await her next command.

Their path will soon collide again
