Jisung's face went from confused to angry as he took in Chenle's state. The nurse had already cleaned up Chenle's wound and had given him two stitches—which were very painful, might he add. She left to the restroom after covering it over with a bandage, leaving him with an ice pack to put over his cheek for the swelling. He held it gently to his face while watching Jisung make his way towards him.

"What happened?" Jisung asked in a stern tone, furrowing his brows as he bent down to Chenle's level, who was sat on one of the beds provided in the infirmary.

Pushing Jisung away from the small distance between them, Chenle gave the boy a sour look before shunning him and looking out the window. He kept his eyes focused on the class playing soccer outside on the field.

Jisung stood up straight with a sigh as he sat on the bed across from Chenle, keeping his gaze locked on the ice pack pressed against Chenle's cheek.

"If you keep staring, I'm gonna leave," Chenle spoke, never sparing Jisung a single glance.

The nurse walked back into the room, focusing her attention on Jisung, who stood up to greet her. "What brings you here this time, Mr. Park?" she asked as she walked up to Jisung and gestured him to sit on the bed.

He complied, lifting his hand off his cheek to show the nasty bruise beginning to form above his cheekbone, near his eye.

"Oh my... and how'd this happen?" She began rummaging through the provided freezer in the room to grab an ice pack for the boy.

Chenle fought with himself to keep his eyes trained out the window, but he was itching to look at Jisung as he listened to him speak.

"A friend punched me," Jisung answered while chuckling.

Widening his eyes, Chenle couldn't help but think... 'Did Donghyuck punch him?' He snuck a glance at Jisung, seeing the faint hues of red and purple beginning to form on the boy's skin.

"You boys and your roughhousing," she tsked, handing over a clothed ice pack to Jisung, who thanked her with a bow. "You boys sit tight. I have some files I need to drop off at the school's office. I'll be ten minutes."

The two boys watched as she exited the infirmary with a small stack of papers in hand. The door slowly slid closed with a quiet thud as silence pierced through the room.

"Are you not gonna tell me what happened?" Jisung asked again, breaking the deafening silence.

Chenle stared down at the floor as he hesitated to answer, "A dodge ball hit me in the face."

"Who threw it?"

Snorting at the question, Chenle finally brought his gaze up to meet with Jisung's serious ones. "What? Are you gonna beat them up?"

"Maybe..." Jisung mumbled, evoking a small laugh from Chenle. Jisung's lips tugged upward at the sound as a small tinge of relief washed over him. He couldn't help but think that he did something wrong because of the way Chenle was acting towards him, but the boy's laugh made all his worries wash away.
