Allow me to give you a little backstory about Joe Swanson. Joe Swanson was just your average guy, mates with both Peter Griffin & Glenn Quagmire. He had a wife and kids, his wife named Bonnie Swanson, and his 2 kids named Kevin & Susie Swanson. Apparently Joe got crippled because he claimed, according to Wiki "he received his paralyzing injury one year on Christmas. He was investigating a robbery at an orphanage in "A Hero Sits Next Door", and during a faceoff with the The Grinch, he slid off the roof tripping on a roller skate, injuring his spine and leaving him paralyzed from the waist down." However, many suspect that isn't the case, and that Joe was in-fact... never crippled.
Joe is a police officer at the Quahog Police Department and is 46, however it's unspecified, who knows how many things he's lied about.
