Ch. 7: Odd Feeling

(((((( Megumi's Point of View )))))

I was passing by the living room when father called out to me. He was surprised to see only me arriving from school all by myself, "Where is Ranma and Akane?"

Me: "Oh they had gone to see Dr. Tofu because Ranma got accidently hit by a curve ball that Akane struck during physical class today."

He sighed, "I see. How come you didn't just treat Ranma yourself, Megumi. I thought Dr. Tofu had to do that sort of stuff."

Me: "He has, Father. It just that they found out that Mr. Saotome was working for Dr. Tofu now. So they just simply decided to see him and get treated by Dr. Tofu while they were there."

Father: "Oh that's right. I totally had forgotten that he was just recently gotten hired by Dr. Tofu. So why didn't you accompany them?"

I shrugged, "I didn't feel like stopping by."

I looked around and took notice that Kasumi isn't around, "Ahree...Where's Kasumi?"

Father: "Have you forgotten? Kasumi has gone to drop off the book to Dr. Tofu since Akane refused to do so."

That's right. This morning Kasumi had asked Akane if she could return the book she borrowed from Dr. Tofu. Akane upright refused and dragged Ranma and I straight to school. I know why she refused. I know that Akane cannot bare the fact that Dr. Tofu is in love with Kasumi because she has feelings for the crazy doctor.

A sudden thought quickly crossed my mind, *Oh no! Akane is with Dr. Tofu and Kasumi is on her way to see him.* I yelped in my head. I became concern over Akane. *Oh God, please have Akane be alright.*

Day light has been distinguished with the night sky and bright twinkling stars. I had stayed at home all day until Ranma and Akan got home from Dr. Tofu. I am not sure what happened, yet I can guess that it wasn't good. They showed up in a foul mood, especially Akane. I didn't bother to talk to Akane because I know exactly what had happened. I kept an eye on my beloved twin by my bedroom window. I watched her as she lets out her frustration against the bricks. My eye languished at the sight. I cannot stand seeing her like this.

My head began to think back at today's events as I sat on the windowsill. The level of Ranma's marital arts should have allowed him to dodged Akane's curved ball. It kind of puzzled me. What was he doing? Was he distracted by something or someone? I began to ponder until I notice Ranma appeared before Akane, *Ranma?*

My interest spiked as Ranma's words speak to Akane, "Don't you ever get tired of being so angry all the time?"

I couldn't he actually asked her that. I intensely focus on Akane's response in curiosity.

Akane: "My feelings are none of your business!"

I couldn't help but sweat drop, *Oh Akane.*

Ranma: "Yeah, but you know..."

Akane: "Know what?!"

Ranma: "You're really cute when you smile."

Along with Akane, my eyes grew wide in shock, *HUH!?*

Ranma pokes her head, "Gotcha!" Akane stumbles onto the ground.

Ranma's words that spoke to Akane roam around my head, You're really cute when you smile.

I was happy because it knocked Akane back to her normal self. She wasn't so depressed like she was earlier. His words help her distract her, yet those same words are distracting me as well.

I sat on my desk with my favorite book at hand. I couldn't read since I cannot let go of his words. Why do I feel like this? I felt kind of hurt. It is as if I wish he could have said those to me and not Akane.

*What am I thinking?!* I shook my head. I shouldn't think like that. Yet...I do. I want to know why.

"WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE?" I hear Akane yell out from her bedroom window, along with someone crashing on our backyard.

I quickly ran towards my window to see what had happened. I saw Ranma's head against the ground with his legs flinching in the air. I couldn't help but to sweat drop.

~*~*~*~ Next day: Furikan High School*~*~*~*~

I just finished putting on my shoes when I stumbled against the lockers.

"Hey Megumi. You alright?" One of my female classmates asked.

I nodded as they looked at me with concern, "You sure? You haven't been looking good all day."

I smiled, "Yeah I just need some rest that's all."

The truth is I haven't been feeling good all day. Since this morning I have been feeling odd. I am not sure why, but I have been simply ignoring it all day. I was quite worried though since I was uneasy facing today's morning's stampede of boys that Akane and I usually battle. Luckily, they have announced their surrender and acceptance that Ranma was our fiancé. I am grateful they did because I don't think I could handle battling them in my sick condition. Unfortunately, Kuno is still hasn't given up on Akane and I.

"Ranma! Come back here!" I hear Akane yell after Ranma as they run out of the school doors.

I sighed, *There is never a day that those two cannot get along.*

My attention quickly focused on what was ahead of me. Some guy jumped down from the sky with a red bamboo umbrella,"Prepare to Die, Ranma Saotome!" Ranma swiftly dodges the guy's sudden attack which cause a crater beneath the unknown male.

I looked at the guy with yellow and black striped bandana that is wrapped around his head, *Wha? Who is this guy?...Man! I really am out of it today...I couldn't see him coming...good thing that Ranma is good at his martial arts, if not, there is no way he could of dodge that attack.*

The yellow bandana boy looked up to Ranma with a mischievous smirk, "I've been looking for you, Ranma. Despite the fact that you're good at running away."

"Do you know this guy, Ranma?" I asked Ranma, who seem not to recognize him.

The guy gets furious, "Seriously?! After all we've been though?"

Me: "You sure don't know him?"

Ranma shook his head in response.

The guy was dumbfounded, "You really don't remember me?"

Ranma shook his head.

"Just answer me one thing," his body trembled in anger, "Why didn't you come to fight me at the appointed time?!"

Ranma: "Now I remember! We were classmates in junior high! Ahhh....Umm.."

Ranma trys to remember his name when the guy storms in front of him, "Its Ryoga Hibiki!"

We all discover that Ryoga and Ranma went to school together, and there wasn't enough food to go around at lunch time. Ranma had always bested Ryoga from getting all the treats. Ryoga arranged a fight with Ranma in the vacant lot behind his own house. It turns out that Ryoga has absolutely no sense of direction! Ranma was waiting in the vacant lot for 3 days before Ryoga finally found his way there!

Ryoga: "You broke a man-to-man promise! And then you dare to run off to China with your father!"

Ryoga strikes Ranma with his umbrella, yet Ranma flips backwards.

Ranma: "So you came here to finish the fight?"

Ryoga: "Finish it?! You don't know the half of it! I want REVENAGE!"

Ranma: "Revenge? What are you talking about?! Did I do something to make you want revenge?"

Ryoga: "I'm going to destroy your happiness, whatever the cost!"

Ranma was stun, "My happiness?"

Ranma looked at Akane and I, "Am I happy?"

I simply shrugged, while Akane replied, "I wouldn't know! What in the world did you do to him?"

Ranma: "I don't know. I don't remember doing anything to the guy."

Me: "You sure? Look at him Ranma. You must had done something. Just look at his hatred towards you."

Ryoga: "Enough stalling! Let's go Ranma!"

Ryoga attacks Ranma. They both begin to engage in combat within the school grounds.

I began to feel light headed. I felt my body becoming weak, as my vision began to fade out until everything turn pitch black.

(((((( Akane's Point of View )))))

I was observing Ranma's fight against Ryoga until I heard something fall down against the ground behind me.
I turned around to see my twin sister unconscious on the floor, "Megumi!"

I ran to her side and held her. People around me were wondering what was wrong with her. My eyes began to quiver as I noticed her face was flushed.

((((((Ranma's Point of View)))))

Within the mist of exchanging fists and kicks against Ryoga, I herd Akane scream Megumi's name. I quickly glanced over to see that Akane was holding onto Megumi's body. My eyes go wide, *Megumi?!*

Ryoga: "Don't look away, Ranma!"

I grunted as I dodge Ryoga punch, "Wait Ryoga! We need to stop! Something wrong with Megumi."

Ryoga: "Fat chance! I ain't letting you runaway again!"

Me: "Dammit! I ain't running away this stupid fight with you isn't important right now!"

I ran towards Akane's side while ignoring Ryoga's protests, "What's wrong with Megumi?"

AKane looked up at me, "Ranma, Megumi has a fever. We need to get her home quick."

Me: "Okie then. I'll carry her home."

Akane: "What! You can't! You're in a middle of a fight."

Me: "Tsk! That aint important right now! What is important right now is getting Megumi home, right?!"

Akane was a bit shocked, yet she handed Megumi's body to me. I held Megumi's within my arms (bridal style).

Ryoga: "What the heck?! What about our fight?"

I glared at him, "I don't care for our fight at the moment Ryoga. Right now I got more important matter to take care of. We can fight on a later day. You know where to find me."

I quickly took off with Megumi. On our way home, I hear Megumi softly spoke, "R-Ranma...D-do I...have a cute smile?"

*H-Huh?* I feel my cheeks warming up a bit.

While still jumping from roof top to roof top, I looked down at Megumi's flushed face. Was it my imagination or did Megumi asked if she has a cute smile? I was about to imagine her smile when I shook the thought because I need to focus on getting her home.
