Marble Madness

Somewhere, small spheres

Sitting on the floor, glaring round mirrors

Madness, rolling up to the lowest hinge on the door

Bouncing off and hiding in the corner

More madness, dropping off from the shelf

Knocking against Dumas and Hugo

The pages falling open

Just as the sound of a marble on the kitchen tiles

Stomped under the foot of a child

Then dashed across seams under the ledge of a cabinent

That overhangs like the entrance to a cavern mine

And outside, in the dimming light

Another flung through the window

Landing in the yard, where slobber slurps it up

And puts in back down beneath the tree

Half-buried with a bone

Madness, on the stairs

Climbing down to where they turn

Stuck in the hairs of the carpet

More madness, in the couch

Between the seat and mattress of the pull-out bed

And in  the seas of the bathtub

Nestled in with the other toys

The treasure of a pearl tucked in an oyster clam

Sound of madness, clanking in the harbor of the vacuum cleaner

A bag of dust, coughing out the dirt back onto the floor

Chunks of dog hair, broom felts, and old food

Along with another piece of madness

And more madness, down in the garage

The old hunk of pinball machine

An extra ball for the next player

Starting up now, and 2x the bonus points

Madness leaping bounds, sliding zig and zag

Madness scattered everywhere from an empty bag
