CHAPTER 1

Honey's POV

"Happy Independence day!" cheered Melissa as she raised her glass.

Napailing ako, "Para kang baliw dyan," I commented.

Everyone looked at us weirdly dahil sa lakas ng boses ni Melissa at dahil na rin sa sinabi niya since tapos na ang independence day.

However, it didn't bother her. She even smirked as if she's proud to get their attention.

"Bakit? Ayaw mo bang i-celebrate yung pagiging single mo?"

Inirapan ko na lang siya.

She chuckled, "Don't tell me umaasa ka pa din na liligawan ka talaga niya. A month had passed already but he's still missing in action"

I didn't like what she said. Parang kasing may biglang pumiga sa puso ko pagkarinig ko non.

After kasi ng graduation namin at pagkatapos na iannounce ni Great sa lahat na liligawan ako, hindi na ulit siya nagpakita o kahit nagparamdam man lang. Even Mamita and his sister suddenly disappeared just like what happened after we got divorce.

No one knows where they are. And all I could do was to wait.

I'm not mad though. I'm actually more worried na baka may pinagdadaanan sila. I know the Perkins are a very influential family but no one is exempted to problems and conflicts.

"You're hopeless," biglang sinabi ni Melissa na parang nababasa kung anong iniisip ko.

I sighed.

Narinig ko rin siyang bumuntong-hininga. "You know what? Let's just have fun tonight. Kalimutan mo muna yang si Great even just for this night and hangout out with me!"

"you know that I don't drink," mabilis na iling ko, knowing what she was planning.

"Best friends na talaga tayo. Alam mo na agad yung gusto kong mangyari!" she chuckled. "Pero hindi ka pwedeng tumanggi. We'll go to the bar tonight whether you like it or not"

"Pero-"

"Walang pero pero! You'll enjoy it there, promise," she giggled.

Nag-iisip ako saglit bago tumango. Maybe I need to unwind para gumaan naman kahit konti ng pakiramdam ko.

Medyo nai-stress na rin kasi ako kakaisip at maghintay ng milagro.

Hours immediately passed by and my working hours was done. Hindi na ako nilubayan ni Melissa at nag-out talaga siya ng maaga para hindi ako makatakas.

"Dun na lang tayo sa condo ko. I have dresses there that fits you," ani Melissa.

My brows instantly furrowed, "Dress? I don't think that's necessary. Okay na 'tong suot ko," sagot ko.

Melissa raised her eyebrows as she looked at me from head to toe. She cringed at me as if my clothes were terrible.

Nakakaoffend ha!

"You looked like an office girl," she stated.

"I'm an office girl," I rolled my eyes.

Actually pareho kaming office girls. Since pareho kami ng major, same rin kaming junior accountant pero sa magkaibang company. Ako sa company namin habang si Melissa sa katabing building lang ng sa amin. Although may sarili din namang business yung family niya, she chose to work near me para daw mas mabilis akong puntahan.

She's that clingy to me.

"We'll go to the bar to have fun, not for extended work, Honey," she pointed out.

Hindi na lang ako nakipagtalo, since alam kong hindi rin naman ako mananalo sa kanya. Mabilis kaming nakarating sa condo niya at agad niya akong hinila sa dressing room niya.

"This one suits you well!" sabi niya.

Her eyes were sparkling as she showed me the dress. Muntik nang lumuwa yung mga mata ko nung nakita ko kung gaano ka-daring nung damit na hawak niya.

"Are you serious?! Hindi ko isusuot yan no!" sigaw ko.

Bigla siyang tumawa nang malakas, "Joke lang! I know you wouldn't dare, manang"

Sinamaan ko siya nang tingin pero mas lalo lang siyang tumawa. Natagalan kaminsa pagpili ng susuotin ko dahil lahat ng binibigay niya sakin kung hindi kinulang sa tela, masakit naman sa mata sa sobrang kinang.

"Eto. Bahala na kung hindi kasya!" mabilis kong kinuha yung kulay itim na tube dress na sakto lang sa iksi.

After an hour, pumasok na kami sa bar at dumiretso sa VIP lounge na nireserve ni Melissa kaninang umaga.

I was wearing a blazer over the tube dress habang si Melissa naman red long sleeve dress na mababa yung neckline.

Pagkatapos maupo, nag-order agad si Melissa habang hindi ko maiwasang tumingin sa paligid.

This is not my first time going to a bar. But I still don't like every bit of it. The ambiance was wild. Nakakahilo yung mga ilaw at masakit sa ilong yung usok ng sigarilyo at vape. Ayoko rin nung halo-halong amoy ng alak dahil parang nalalasing na ako kahit hindi pa ko umiinom.

Melissa grinned at me after she's done ordering, "Tonight, we'll forget everything behind and just have fun. Wag kang killjoy! Oorder ako ng maraming drinks at hindi tayo uuwi hanggang hindi natin nauubos lahat yon!"

I looked at her in bewilderment.

First time naming pumunta dito nang kami lang at sa pagkakaalam ko hindi rin mahilig uminom si Melissa.

Naningkit yung mga mata ko sa kanya, "May problema ka ba?" tanong ko.

Natigilan siya. Pero hindi rin nagtagal dahil tumawa siya bigla. "Anong magiging problema ko? Can't we drink now without any reason?"

Tinitigan ko lang siya.

She looked suspicious pero hindi ko na lang pinilit na umamin. She already claimed to be my best friend but she never opened anything to me regarding her private life.

Nagsimula nang maglapag yung waiter ng mga order ni Melissa at halos malunod ako sa dami ng cocktails sa table.

"It's so colorful," puna ko.

The waiter chuckled at my comment and proudly introduced each drink to me. Then he handed me the red one with a grin, "Try this one, Miss. This is most of the ladies favorite"

Hindi ako sigurado kung tatanggapin ko ba o hindi. But Melissa nudged me to accept it kaya tinanggap ko.

However, as soon as I accepted the drink, someone suddenly snatched it away from my hand and gave it back to the waiter.

"She doesn't drink"

I gasped.

Nanigas ako bigla sa kinauupuan ko nang makita kung sino yung umagaw sa inumin ko.
