"Jebal, nal ttonaji marayo."

Hoseok's heart shatters in his chest at the sound of your whimpered plea. You almost never speak Korean beyond the terms of endearment you call him by, the memories the language brings up of a home once loved too painful for you to bear most days.

"Jagiya, I'm not going far," he murmurs, turning back to face you. Your eyes are glassy with fear and pain.

"Please," you beg, your hands clinging to the hem of his shirt.

"You need water, ____, and clean bandages. I'll be right back," he promises, gently prying your fingers from his shirt.

You choke on a sob and it takes everything in him not to wrap you in his arms again. It takes more strength than he thought he had to step away once his shirt is free. He's pretty sure it kills him to open the door and hear you plead him again in Korean not to go.

"I'm just going down to the cellar, jagi. I'll be five minutes, max. But you need to be quiet, lovely, alright? For me, ____?" He's fully aware that he's overdoing it with the pet names, but you've always told him that the way he says them is comforting.

"Hobi, please," you cry, reaching for him but unable to move from your place in the bed. The wound in your side burns with every movement, but you push through. "It isn't safe, Hobi, jebal, nae sarang, don't leave me please—" You're rambling and you know it, but you can't think straight, the pain in your side and the terror that your fiancé won't come back addling your brain until all it's all you know.

"Mianhae, ____. I'm so sorry. I'll be right back," he vows again. "Please try to keep quiet." Knowing he'll break down and stay if you keep begging like this, he quickly steps out and closes the door firmly behind him.

He can hear your cries muffle as he descends the stairs. You must have buried your face in the pillow, and for that, he's grateful. The last thing either of you needs right now is to accidentally alert the Others to your whereabouts. It's bad enough that you've been separated from the rest of his Family, but now you're injured as well, and he won't be able to move you himself without making it worse. You're trapped.

The worst part is, he still hasn't told you exactly how dire this whole situation is. Unless you've somehow figured it out for yourself, you don't know that his Family isn't coming back for him. How could they? As far as they know, this area is overrun by the Others. It would be suicide to come back as much as it's suicide to stay, but you haven't realized—at least, he doesn't think you have—that this is Others territory now. He figured it out pretty quickly after he and the Family were separated, which happened while you were unconscious.

She lost so much blood. Hoseok shudders as he double-checks the deadbolts on the front and back doors before heading for the cellar. It's a miracle Jimin was able to heal her a bit in all that chaos. Hell, it's a pretty damn big miracle that worked at all, considering he only had sixty seconds to do it before we got separated.

He swallows hard, willing himself not to tear up when he thinks about his Family. Will they have a formal burial for us at the wall, or will it wait until they reach Asyl? Will they have a burial at all? He shakes himself when he reaches the bottom of the steps to the cellar. Stop thinking about them, Hoseok. They're gone. With any luck, they're already halfway to Asyl. All that matters now is getting ____ better and making some kind of plan to get the hell out of here.

He knows, of course, that making past the front porch alive isn't exactly plausible. He's not going to tell you that, though. As long as he can keep your hope alive, he can face his fate without fear. As long as you believe there's a chance of survival, he can put on a brave face. The minute you lose hope, he knows his strength will fail. The minute you lose hope is the minute you're both dead, whether the Others have found you or not.

As he gathers bandages and a few—miraculously still sealed—jars of water, thanking his lucky stars he picked a house with a cellar, Hoseok hears a dull thud above him. He freezes, biting his tongue to keep from calling out your name to make sure you're okay. Heavy footsteps, too heavy to be yours, move steadily towards the door to the cellar.

Fuck. Others. I checked the doors, didn't I? How the hell did they get in? Mind racing, he tries to come up with some kind of plan. He silently sets down the rolls of bandages in his right hand and unholsters the gun at his side, flinching as the click of the safety being switched off echoes through the cellar.

The door opens and light streams in. Hoseok lifts his gun. Why the fuck are they moving so slowly? He thinks, then—Shit. ____. Be alive, jagiya, please. I'm coming.

"Hobi?" A familiar voice calls down the stairs, and he nearly collapses in relief.

"Yoongi!" Hoseok tries not to shout it, switching the safety of his gun back on and shoving it into its holster. "Son of a bitch, man, you scared me!"

Yoongi descends quickly and, before Hoseok can say or do anything else, grabs him and pulls him into a tight hug. Hoseok stiffens in surprise; Yoongi isn't exactly the most touchy member of the Family, to put it lightly. After a moment of shock, Hoseok clumsily places the jar of water in his left hand on the shelf and wraps his arms around his hyung. He buries his face in Yoongi's neck and breathes him in and he can feel himself starting to break down, legs shaking.

"Don't you ever do something so reckless and stupid ever again, do you hear me, Jung Hoseok?!" Yoongi growls furiously, finally breaking out of their embrace. "I swear on all that is holy, if you do, I'll put a fucking bullet in your skull myself."

"I hear you, hyung." Hoseok breathes, staring at Yoongi with wide eyes. "... How the fuck did you find us?"

"Us? ____'s alive?" Yoongi's own eyes widen. "Jimin was sure he'd failed—"

"She's alive," Hoseok assurés him quickly. "She's upstairs."

"Ah, good. Jeongguk and Namjoon are here, too, they're searching upstairs."

Hoseok gives a sigh of relief. Reinforcements. "Hopefully Joon doesn't scare the life outta her," he tries to laugh. Yoongi shoots him a wry smile.

"We better go make sure everyone's still alive up there, huh?"
