I shall sit down and write again

Once upon a time, I wrote,
About love, peace, blissful happiness;

I sit down, why won't those words
Come floating, like they did,
Or is it not a retrogression in my vocabulary?

I sit down, not words, but sadness,
From the heart, aching, ailing,
Where is the love, the peace, the blissful happiness?

Best-friends were we, are, now alive I hope,
This wretched phone won't connect,
Or is it not the phone?

School had been lovely, social
Studies, our constitution, how beautiful,
But why, so many, hungry to destroy,
Cruel; Shrivelling the radiance, acid dripping venomously,
Screams ringing through hearts beating the rhythm
Of humanity-
Humanity, I believed to see, my own friend,
Didn't, struggle now to smile to her jokes now,
For isn't this what they want? Divide?
Lay the foundation of a wall, my heart, against my sister- misguided,
The bricks would add up, the cement,
We would garnish with.

I sit down, maybe
Not words today, decisions,
Spread love, come what may, can't give in,
This deadly trial of hate and evil, overcome we shall,
Resist, forces of fear, despair,

And one day, I shall sit down and write again.

I shall sit down and write againDonde viven las historias. Descúbrelo ahora
