The city of New York slowed down as the sun began to set. Cars honked in the streets and people hurried along bundled up in coats to get home to their loved ones. A figure watched from the top of a building as the city began to go to sleep. The skyline of New York began to become a brilliant red and purple. Just the way she liked it. She admired the cool breeze as it caressed her face. It was way too hot in hell. She smiled amused thinking about the people of the city. How small and weak they were. Adorable. She tossed her long black hair back and stared at the streets. Little girls ran to catch up with their busy moms. Dads and sons came out of stores yelling. Couple roamed the streets arm in arm. It must be nice. She thought bitterly, to have somebody. She shook her head. That's not how she should be thinking. She was the devil. She didn't need anyone.

"Not from around here are you?" A voice asked behind her. She whipped around to see a tall figure stepping out of the shadows.

"And you?" She said annoyed. He was an angel if she had ever seen one. Tall, lean, and strong. Smooth pale face and warm brown eyes framed by lashes. Curly brown hair that neatly sat on his head. She was a little jealous of the angel girls. She was stuck with the devil boys with wild hair.

"What are you doing here?" He asked, "You're not allowed here."

"If you haven't noticed, I'm a devil. Rules aren't my priority."

"Of course." He said.

"What are you doing here?" she asked. The angel looked at the devil. Thin and beautiful, with long black hair. Dark brown eyes and perfect angular cheekbones. Her flawless olive skin glowed in the setting sun. Pretty. In a dangerous way. You could look in her eyes and know that all she wanted to do was rip you apart. You couldn't trust her if your life depended on it.

"I got bored." He said. He didn't feel like lying.

"About time." She said staring at a couple coming out of a coffee shop.

"Why are you here?" The angel asked again. There was a long silence.

"I'm lonely." the devil said. As much as she didn't like him, she knew he wouldn't say anything. He was an angel. Perfect. And that's what she hated. Angels were too pretty and perfect to be real.

"I thought devils didn't have souls." The angel said sitting down, letting his long legs dangle off the side of the building.

"I thought angels didn't judge others." The devil responded sitting down next to him.

"I guess I'm no ordinary angel." He responded.

"And I guess I'm no ordinary devil." She agreed. At that moment, they both knew. Even though they could never be there for each other, they always had each other. The devil leaned against the angel, no longer feeling lonely. The angel put his arm around the devil, no longer feeling so bored. They stared at the sun as it got lower and lower until it disappeared, and the moon and stars took it's place.
