"Ow that hurts. Ow that hurts a lot," Dallon heard from down the hallway. He walked into their bedroom to see Ryan massaging his wrist. "Are you okay baby?" Dallon asked.

Ryan looked up at him with soft eyes. "Yeah, I guess I just hurt my hand earlier. I don't really remember what I did...." He zoned out.

Dallon stood in the doorway staring at his husband. "Do you wanna bake some cookies? The boys are at school."

"Dallon, I would love to." He got up from the bed and grabbed his hand and dragged him into the kitchen.

"Ryan, slow down!" He giggled. "The stuff's over here." He grabbed a few ingredients out of a plastic grocery bag and set them on the counter, as well as a recipe that looked like it had been torn out of a book. Ryan watched Dallon grab two eggs and some butter from the fridge. He took out a small bowl from the cabinet below him and started measuring out some flour.

"We're gonna want a ton of cookies for the four of us, so I found a huge recipe of some original chocolate chip cookies. I don't know how many it makes, but we'll have plenty, don't worry," Dallon said as he put on an apron hung up by the pantry. Dallon was usually the one who cooked for the family, but Ryan was still surprised that he knew so much about it.

"I'll guide you through it," He said. "First, you're going to preheat your oven to 375°F." He clicked a few buttons on the oven, turning it on. Ryan peeked inside as he heard it starting to make noise.

"Next, we'll measure out the flour. We need 2 1/4 cups. Do you want to measure it out?" Ryan nodded his head and scooped out 2 cups of flour and put it in the bowl. He paused for a second, then opened a drawer and grabbed a 1/4 cup and scooped that into the bowl as well.

Dallon looked into his eyes and smiled, then grabbed the next ingredient. "Now we add one teaspoon of baking soda, followed by one teaspoon of salt, then mix." He did just that, and grabbed a larger mixing bowl from a different cabinet. "It's time for the next part. I'm going to add in our sugar, eggs, butter, and vanilla extract." He measured out 3/4 cup of granulated sugar, as well as 3/4 cup of brown sugar. Ryan handed him the butter and vanilla extract.

"Thank you," Dallon said. He put in the two sticks of softened butter and 1 teaspoon of vanilla. "Do you wanna mix?" He turned to Ryan with the spoon. Ryan pouted as he held his hurt wrist, basically saying that his wrist hurt too much to stir the thick mixture. Dallon giggled and turned around to start mixing, Ryan peering over his shoulder. After about 30 seconds of mixing, he added the eggs, one at a time. Adding in the flour mixture after the eggs were mixed in well, the batter was almost done.

"Ooooh! I wanna add the chocolate chips!" Ryan said, jumping up and down like a little kid. "Okay honey, they're in the pantry," Dallon said, still mixing just in case. Ryan grabbed the chocolate chips and opened the bag, smelling the semi-sweet morsels. He generously poured them into the bowl, Dallon mixing them in.

"Now we scoop." He grabbed a baking sheet and a scoop, putting the balls of dough on it. After all of the dough was transferred from the bowl to the sheet, he slid an oven mitt on his hand and put the sheet in the oven. "15 minutes," he said as he set the timer. "Now we wait."

Ryan motioned for Dallon to come sit on the couch with him. Ryan wrapped an arm around Dallon's shoulder and leaned in to kiss him on the cheek.

"I love you so much Dally," he said. He closed his eyes and smiled, hugging him close.

"I love you so much too, Ryry."

~~~10 Minutes Later~~~
Awsten barged through the door and screamed, "DADS I'M HOME!" As little Ryan quietly walked in after, shutting the door calmly. He noticed an unfamiliar smell. "Dad, what's that smell?" He asked after he put away his backpack. That reminded Dallon to go check on the cookies. "Follow me into the kitchen," he said. Little Ryan and Dallon walked into the kitchen to see the cookies in the oven. "YuMm!" Ryan said, "cOOkiEs!"
Awsten peaked his head out of his room as soon as he heard "cookies" from across the house. He raced into the kitchen. "They're almost done," Dallon said. "About two minutes left." Awsten didn't like that. "Why can't they be done already?" He uttered. "Be patient," father Ryan said as he walked into the kitchen to join them. Little Ryan looked around Awsten. "Hi dad," he said. Father Ryan smiled.
They stood impatiently, watching the timer count down. "5.... 4.... 3.... 2.... 1....!" They all said. Dallon grabbed an oven mitt and opened the oven, sliding out the cooking sheet the cookies were placed on. The air was full of a chocolatey aroma as soon as Dallon set the sheet on the counter. "Mmmmm" Father Ryan said, deeply inhaling the fresh scent of baked cookies.
After about five minutes of waiting for the cookies to cool off, the fam was already enjoying the delicious chocolate chip cookies. Dallon felt proud of himself for making the whole family satisfied and happy. Little Ryan and Awsten were just happy that they had something sugary. Father Ryan loves it when Dallon baked for them. Everyone was finished as soon as Ryan had motioned for them to go sit on the couch together. They were all so comfortable that they fell asleep, Ryan and Awsten fell asleep on each other's shoulders, and Father Ryan had fallen asleep in Dallon's arms. They all loved each other so very much.
