heejin smiled secretly while preparing the girl's bread, holding it properly and with care. she didn't expect she would come back. and oh, she looked beautiful wearing that simple denim skirt paired with a yellow hoodie with those famous big earrings of hers and letting her hair flow.
"here's your order," heejin smiled, lending the bread with an extra sweets on it that made the girl surprised, heejin observed the girl's emotion. at first when she saw the bread, her eyes changed. it looked delightful, yet seconds later it turned back into normal. her normal cold stare.
the girl faced heejin, wearing those stares it made heejin worried. "i don't need those sweets." the girl simply stated, not even paying attention on those mouth-watering cookies and small round donuts in which heejin prepared, a simple exchange for that dollar yesterday.
heejin insisted, pulling up a bright smile. "no, don't worry. you're not paying those. it's just a peace offering." yet the girl tsked, obviously annoyed. "i swear, i don't need those." the girl quickly brought the bread from the counter and immediately went out in the bakery, leaving heejin behind together with those sweets.
heejin stayed still, not processing what happened well. she's confused . . . and sad. she doesn't know what to feel. she's just being nice, yet the girl protested and even acted rude, but heejin knew there's always a reason.
heejin sighed, staring at the sweets placed on the counter in front of her. "looks like i'm gonna eat these alone." she mumbled, placing the sweets on the bakery's fridge.
time passed as it's already midnight heejin's on her way home, feeling exhausted for the rest of the day but she felt great, her job was fine for her.
on the street, heejin noticed a girl. a girl who seems really familiar. it's the bread girl, she knew it was her since those big earrings are obviously exposed. the bread girl was standing at the center of the street, closing her eyes while holding the bag of breads with a grip.
heejin was surprised, she isn't dumb for not knowing what will the girl's doing, she's killing herself! heejin even felt nervous more since there's a big motorcycle on that bread girl's way and ready to land on her.
heejin putted down her things, not even minding those and ran across the street towards bread girl's direction, immediately pulled the girl's wrist and returned to heejin's position earlier.
"what are you doing? you were supposed to be hit on that motorcycle yet you didn't even budge, what's wrong with you?" heejin snorted, slightly shouting at the girl. the girl stay silent as she hang her head low, staring at her own feet followed by some quite sobs as her tears flow down on her cheeks making heejin dumbfounded.
as the girl cried, heejin panicked. she doesn't know what to do, she felt guilty. she thinks she's the reason why the girl is crying.
"are you . . . okay?" heejin asked, feeling worried as the girl continued crying. the girl shrugged, "i don't know. i really don't know. i'm not okay." the girl said, now looking up and straight on heejin's eyes.
heejin felt soft, looking at those teary eyes that was very cold before. the girl looked miserable, she looks like she wanted to end her life.
"i'm heejin." heejin said as she quickly hugged the girl. hugging her tightly as if she doesn't wanna let go. she just wanted to comfort her, and care for her.
"i'm kim hyunjin."
