15. Rocky roads of parents

" oh fuck" Singto runs to the gate , leaving the laptop on the swing..

" what do you want Mr Perawat?" The drunken man stumbles but bows his head cutting a very sorry figure , in torn shirt and unwashed pants, unshaven face of days and dry uncombed hair ..

" my son"

" your son! The one you wanted to murder that night because he chose a man ."

" young master , I am sorry for what I have done, krist resembles his mother so much, seeing him grow up reminded me everyday of the pain of loosing my wife . His antics, his gentleness is so similar to her .. how can I explain you what did I feel, what my heart undergoes every time when I look at him.. ?

" so you drifted away? That's your solution ! And what about the hate! What was that for ? Is that also related to missing your wife ." Singto doesn't feel anything for this man only bitterness, that night of Krist's bloody body flashed before his eyes .. he finds an arm holding him strong, his father came out and heard everything.

" that was all my prejudice and narrow mindedness young master, pls remove the restraining order I want to meet him once and ask his forgiveness and then I will go, to our village home which still awaits me. I will live the rest of my life there .. away from his life."

Mr Prachaya speaks up this time.." he has exams going on, pls don't disturb his mental peace.. after his exams I will personally bring him to the village to meet you. Now leave as you promised, I will release your withheld salary..it will be transferred to your account."

The light in the deemed eyes return for Krist's father and he takes his leave stumbling in his drunken steps barely keeping balance ..

" you really going to make kit meet him? And you had placed restraining order on that man? dad , I didn't know, I just assumed he stopped bothering him ultimately of guilt."

" this man will never feel guilty Singto.. he just wanted his rest of the salary.. didn't you see and understand ? His whole being hated krist because of his deceased wife , it's an abnormal circumstance but human mind is a strange thing, I am sure he wanted to beg forgiveness from krist only to get in his good books to get reinstated in the job or the salary.... I will make him meet krist only if krist ever asks about his dad again, and don't worry we will be taking proper precautions that time, if it ever happens ..

But son, I needed to discuss something with you urgently.. about Rob." Singto's father says after a long pause ..

" I am definitely not getting back with that idiot dad, if that what you are planning to discuss."

Both father and son sits down, Singto feels an odd hammering in his heart..

" Singto leave for two years , and take care of our Singapore business."

" what the hell!! Me taking care of business ? Why? What about my writing ? Why are you planning to punish me? What's my fault? I love krist ! What is really wrong in that?" He is shouting now ..

" calm down, Singto.. listen to me first.. nobody is telling you to leave your writing or krist! I will personally make sure he is with you on his every holiday.. but if you stay here your mother will keep on piling with you with proposals and restrictions. She is not at all warm to the idea of you dating our subordinate's son.. Rob is only the beginning. Atleast you have to give the guy credit he is still irritating as hell.."

Singto looks shocked at his father, he always thought his old man liked Ray.. so it's all pretence to keep the lady of the house placated!

Singto's father continues speaking, each sentence uttered making Singto's eyes go wider in disbelief , jaws go clenched in tension and face grimmer in anger..

" I have Another bad news for you. You know your mom's family owns the major share of that university. she is planning to thwart Krist's scholarship, but you moving out of the picture will definitely dissuade her from her plan, she will believe you lost interest.

Singto truthfully, I am not thrilled you chose krist but the boy has suffered enough. He doesn't need more drama in his life because of social status and stigma.

You are yourself rich and established , it's just matter of time, that krist will be too. When two years will be over he will be already on his way to third year and then final year and internship . You can start living with him without any legal bondage your mom can think to trap him or you.

Your previous salaries and now allowances he keeps on getting without his knowledge also will help to keep him strong on his legs even if the scholarship is taken away. .."

" how can I trust you dad, what are you telling is so underhanded and so sinister and you are going to support mom in this?" Singto feels so helpless, he always thought his family is open minded and supportive, how very wrong he was !

" I can't go against her openly Singto, she owns a lot of shares and hold on the company too, you know how she is ! She is strong, she is independent and she is stubborn in her own ideas of right and wrong. The only thing I can do for you and him, I already told to you.. but it's upto you to choose it or not . Decide wisely."

His father pats his back, seeing his distressed expression,gives a soft kiss on the top of his head and leaves him to his own musings and heartache by being betrayed by his own parents.

Now , Singto can clearly understand what torment krist must have gone through when his own father pushed him away , why he couldn't hate him even when he made his life living hell, he can't hate his mom too but can only feel a deep sense of anguish.

And he is scared , very scared .. the revelations couldn't have come at a much worse time ! Krist is angry on him, he things him as a cheater and here he has to choose to be away from him to save his relationship.

Singto knows he needs to speak to krist asap, but everything has to wait .. krist has exams .. and he has to gain courage to face him with all the bitter truths..

" paper boat, the rain filled streets are flooding now , water running so high.... don't get drenched too much , don't get soaked so much to be turned upside down.. because the thunder storm wanted blue sky, but the dark clouds came swirling by .."

Singto cries his heart out at their first place of meeting ten years before.... What will happen now?
