"..I think Felix is most likely going to kill us." I muttered, as Mychal ruffled his hair. "..Yeah, but no one seemed to be..uhm—"
"Fit for the job? How rude of you!" I punched his arm lightly, as a joke. "Look, the rest of them— were skin and bones. If they were bases, they would hurt themselves AND the girls!" He reasoned with me, and I had to agree.

"Well, we're about to head to lunch in a few minutes, so— we can monitor the Canteen, and all that stuff." Mychal offered, and I nodded. "Sure, les' go."

We walked to the Canteen, hoping the bell wouldn't ring and we'd get trampled by all the hungry teenagers.

Once we got to the empty Canteen, I took a random seat. Mychal sat at his usual table, so we were separated. Then, the bell rang, and it was like a zombie apocalypse. Everyone started to file in the Canteen. Nothing strange.

I waited a couple minutes, then..

"Please Miss, I'm starving! Just one cookie?" A familiar voice pleaded.

I glanced in the direction of the voice and noticed the figure. It was Aeron... Begging for food?...

I inspected the situation silently. "..Unless ya got money, move along." The lunch lady clicked her tongue.

I checked the pockets of my skirt and pulled out my wallet. I had $5. I walked over to the counter where Aeron was, and placed down the $5. He looked at me in surprise. "Skye?" He questioned me.

"Aeron wanted to buy me a cookie, but he forgot the money, Miss. I'm sorry for the inconvenience, he's a good boy, really." I smiled, and the lunch lady handed me the cookie. "..Thank you! Have a great day." I smiled, and grabbed Aeron's wrist, making him flinch in surprise. I dragged him out of the Canteen, and he was still struggling to keep his balance.

I threw him the cookie, and he caught it, looked down at it and then looked at me. "I thought this was your cookie." He asked me, and I rolled my eyes, breaking my good girl persona. "Idiot," I spoke "I got it for you."

He hesitated and a smile pursed his lips. He walked over, and I assumed he was going to hug me, but he started to lift me in the air, carrying me. "Hey! What are y—"

He started walking to a small table in the field. He set me down and I crossed my arms. He sat down as well. I kept silent.

"Ey, you not gonna talk to me no more? Where did that bad girl attitude go?" He asked in a charming tone.

"..I don't want to talk to someone who just kidnapped me." I muttered, and he laughed and genuine laugh. I couldn't help but smile at his expression. It was nice. He seemed happy.

"Aight aight, sorry." He said, tearing open the cookie wrapped and splitting it in half.  He offered the other half, in which I declined. I was hungry, but I didn't want to take his cookie. It was the only lunch he had. I decided to joke around once more. "I don't want a cookie that could seem poisoned, especially one from my kidnapper."

He clasped his hands together and bowed. "I said I'm sorry, please forgive me." He played along, and I couldn't help but chuckle. He noticed this, and laughed as well.

He stuffed one half of the cookie in his mouth, holding onto the other remaining half. I wanted to get to know him and what kind of relationship he had with Felix, besides the obvious.

"Hey, Aeron. Where do you live?" I asked, straightforwardly.

He made a choking sound, and he patted his chest. After that, he looked at me, a smirk on his face. "My my, Skye. We just met a few days ago, and you already want to visit me in my house and pull a Veronica?"

He made a reference to a musical. What a nerd. "..Pfft, weeb. Keep your stick in your pants my dude, I'm just asking you simple questions any person would ask if they were interested in being friends with you."

"..Or interested in being more than that."
He fired back. "Stop being horny." I smiled and he cleared his throat in embarrassment. "What— no! I'm not being- Why would you—"

"Chill, it was a joke, whiny weeb." I laughed. He sighed.

"You're japanese, right?" I asked, and he nodded. "はい、私の愛。" (Yes, my love.)
"I can't understand you." I clicked my tongue. I thought for a while for questions I could ask him.

"Are you fluent in English?" I started again, and he nodded. "Are you fluent in japanese as well?" He gave me a thumbs up. Damn, this dude.

"..You communicate with Felix in Japanese, right?" Once again, a yes.

"Hmmm...." I muttered. "You guys are.. close." I joked. "You two friends?" I asked, and Aeron's expression slightly changed. He looked down, before giving me a soft no. I tilted my head. He looked sad.

I didn't want to deepen the small damage I've caused him, but he looked troubled for the rest of the time. Like, he wanted to vent about it.

"Hey.. You wanna, uhm.." I slowly started. "Talk about it?" I asked, and he didn't respond.

Crap. I messed up. I was about to apologize, but he softly muttered some words, still looking at the ground. I listened attentively.

"Yes, we were friends.." His voice started to shake, his eyes full of sadness. Suddenly, they shot open, as if he realized something. He stood up. "..But.. We're not anymore. We can't be." He clenched
his fists.

He gritted his teeth. "Right now.. He tolerates me, to the point where I can exist in his presence— and I'd rather keep it that way." He states firmly, his face full of sorrow.

I couldn't speak, this was the first time he'd show any sign of vulnerability towards a stranger. What could I do? I didn't know what I could do.

As an instinct, I stepped towards him, and touched his hand in comfort. He looked at me in surprise, and I smiled. I wrapped my hands around his body, embracing him. He stood there, paralyzed for a second, before hugging me back.

We stood there for a moment before the bell rang. I patted his back, and we let go of each other. I walked with him back to class, and since we were in different classes, we had to disperse. Before we left each other, he smiled at me. ".. ありがとうございました。" (Thank you.)

I waved goodbye, and turned around from his field of view to walk to my class. I smiled, as I knew exactly what he meant.
