GCP: The Galactic Peace Corps and their goals

GCP: an early history

The Global Corporation of Peace (Later Global was replaced by Galactic) Or, GCP as has become it's more common name, is, as it's name would suggest the singular global (later to be one of the few Galactic) governing power over humanity. The goal of the GCP is to enlighten and protect humanity all while keeping the peace. The GCP rose to prominence in the year 2020 when a political conversion of the United States as well as Canada, England, Ireland, Russia, France, Greece, and China was staged and completed (Although it had taken many lifetimes to build up to this point). As the years progressed more and more of the remaining countries followed suite. 

In the year 2028 all but three had converted into the GCP: Honduras, Mexico, and Madagascar.The three countries formed a coalition they called, "The Front for Freedom" but were branded by the GCP as "The Anti-Peace Coalition". The war that erupted lasted a total of three years, five months, seventeen days, and three hours, much longer than the GCP had expected, the beginning of the end of this war was the day (January 3, 2030) Honduras surrendered, cutting off Making Mexico itself a much easier target, not long after (April 3, 2030) Mexico held up it's own white flag. For another year, though, Madagascar gave heavy resistance, until it's entire landmass mysteriously sank below the sea (August 11, 2031) With the last pocket of resistance snuffed out, the GCP, with their already stable world government set forward on developing space traversing technology. 

The GCP's first major problem came in the year of 2056 under the guise of overpopulation, to which they responded by colonizing Mars. The migration of the laboring-class people to Mars, turned the planet from a desolate wasteland into the center of production for the GCP, The entirety of the surface is covered in factories, automatized agriculture and farming, and shoddy low-class housing; the once red planet now seems to be a hulking irregularly shaped mas of innumerable amount of metals plastics and other industrial materials. With the production output from Mars, Earth became the most well defended planet within the galaxy (even today) Hundreds of Orbital Defense Stations (ODS) float around the Earth, making the bulk of the Sol system platforms.

With all of the extra materials being produced from Mars, the GCP constructed it's first fleet consisting of two light cruisers, a carrier (inside of which sit hundreds of troop transport shuttles) and the first capitol ship (now retired) the GPFS-Ostentatious (Galactic Peace Force Ship) as well as seventeen comfortably sized scientific research ships. As the rest of the system was explored,  more and more outposts were built, eventually a new fuel source for the ships (as they had previously been powered by extremely unstable nuclear reactors) was developed. The fuel in question was liquidized gas that was siphoned from local gas giants; oddly enough this proved far more efficient and was much easier to mass produced. 

This coincidentally led to the invention of Plasma weapons, as the new form of energy was highly deadly to handle in a raw form, able to melt any any bio-matter much like a highly concentrated acid. However it did have it's drawbacks, it could melt through non-biological material but it took and extensive period of time and was hardly worth it as explosives or even highly accelerated kinetic weapons could punch through faster. Lasers were also developed to a point of being considered a practical weapon, emitting beams of intense, directed heat proved capable of completely melting thin layers of armor as well as scorching any biological surface behind it, although with energy shields having come into mass production within roughly the same time, they were seen as only logical for ground forces to use as the shields would simply absorb the laser and use it as energy (as most ships at his time were being outfitted with their own shield generators.)

With the entirety of the sol system by 76 AST (after space travel)The GCP began focusing once again on planetary colonization and making a better standard of living on Earth. Buildings on Earth by this point were stacked almost atop each other, GCP, would make the logical solution of Building skyward and in some cases downwards (See Antarctica and Siberia). The Global Transportation System was switched to a newer technology, mag-lev train systems were built, traveling all over the world, meeting most places of regional importance and crossing over top the walls built to separate former countries and states, as well as federal agencies. roads were stacked atop each other, usually about eight lanes each and about seven roads deep.

In 103, AST Mars, unsatisfied with the minimum amount of effort being spent to improve their infrastructure began strikes, which were quelled only by use of force and the threat of orbital bombardment. With this the GCP decided that any unrest must be dealt with. This lead to the creation of the Peace Enforcement Corps. (GEC).
