2009 5x07

It's the first day of sophomore year. It's insane. I moved to Lima Ohio from Franklin Tennessee this summer to be with my grandpa and this is where my parents went to high school, at McKinley High School.

After ignoring my alarm for some time, I get changed into the outfit I've had picked out for about a week. A black cami, paired with a ripped cameo skirt, an oversized jean jacket, and my white converse high tops.

I do my makeup in my bathroom before I run downstairs to eat some cereal.

By the time we get to school, the warning bell has already rung so I grab my schedule and dash to first period Spanish.

To my surprise, I'm there before anyone else.

A tall brunette walks in wearing a letterman jacket.

"You new?" He asks me.

"Yeah, I just moved here from Tennessee" I say, making eye contact with the cute guy in front of me.

"That's sick" This kid is sorta awkward but it's charming. "I- I'm Finn, by the way."

I put my hand out for him to shake it but he dodges it and high fives me instead. 

"I'm Jessica"

'Finn' takes a seat next to me

"Is it okay if I sit here?"

I nod and let the boy sit next to me

"So what brings you to Lima?"

"My parents grew up here so they wanted to come back and take care of my grandpa when my grandma passed over the summer so here we are!" I say, looking at the clock and wondering why no one's here on time.

"That's really nice actually" He scratches the back of his neck

"thanks"

"ya know what?" He says, practically jumping out of his seat, "you should come to some of the football games this year! We could always use some fans in the stands" He smiles as he plays with the pencil in his hand.

"i'll try, for sure" I fake smile at him and he reciprocates.

After Spanish , I get asked by the teacher, Mr. Schuester to join glee club which I think I might because it sounds kinda cool honestly.

I end up getting recruited as well for the cheer squad by some girl who's in my Spanish class.

Quinn Fabray's her name. She's the queen bee of the school, it looks like everyone pretty much worships the ground she walks on.

"hey, come sit with us" She calls me over to their lunch table and I walk over slowly

I take a seat and the gossip begins. 

"Suzy Pepper, remember her?" The Latina sitting next to me says to Quinn. "she's apparently going crazy because of Rachel Berry. That thing has a crush on Mr. Schue. It's so disgusting."

"Ew, I can't believe that he's even trying to revive that glee club of misfit toys" Quinn snaps. "Don't join anything that involves Rachel Berry, she's disgusting. She looks a lot like Rupaul. Actually, I might start using that as her nickname. Wow, I'm so smart"

I sorta keep to myself during lunch.

After I eat, I walk past the glee club sign up sheet and see that there's five names on there.

"So, you thinkin' of signing up?" Mr. Schuester approaches me.

"Yeah, but do I have to like sign the sheet?"

"Just come to auditions today after school. We'll be more than happy to have you there Jessica" He pats my shoulder and walks away.

"Glee club huh?" Finn from Spanish walks up next to me and starts keeping up with my pace as I walk to History.
