PLEASE DO NOT COMMENT PRAISE ON THIS!

I know it's going to seem like I'm fishing for compliments, but I just wanted to know if anyone relates. I feel like Uprise is not as good as Arcane. And it's been driving me crazy!

Like, the frustration is getting so bad that I don't want to write for Uprise EVER.

Alas, I finish everything I begin (for better and worse). So, I will definitely have Uprise complete, and possibly sooner than later because I've just finished writing chapter 21 out of 37.

Let's analyze the reasons I don't love it.

One, the smallest reason so the smallest number, I feel like I have fewer readers. Comments are my blood, and I just feel like fewer people like it. Now, I don't expect more readers, because I don't like it either. This is also how I feel about Asunder (which, like, one person has read the whole series as far as I know).

Two, the romances; they're way more complicated and confusing. I'm a sucker for the cute shit, so this has been really hard for me to get through. Like, the relationships are so much more complicated and thick. They feel more real, so it's harder to see Uprise as an escape.

Three, the plot. I feel like it's less tense, and more chill. I also feel like it's more uniform and less chaotic. It makes me really frustrated, to be completely honest.

Does anyone else hate their second book more than their first? Because I thought I would feel an improvement, and I don't. The same thing happened with my fanfics, which feel like though my craft has gotten better, my ability to be engaging has gotten worse. That's my big fear for Plight right now. The language is probably the most beautiful that I've done, but I'm worried that the characters are going to clash because I chose a weird concept and argh!

Anyway, I'm only commenting because I want to know if anyone else feels like their first work is the best and nothing can compare. Because I sure as fuck do.
