Aspen and Everett are helping Daniel clean out his closet when they come across some old family pictures of Daniel, his brothers, his mom and his father.

"Papa, who is this man in these picture with you, Nonna, Uncle Toby and Uncle Jacob?" Aspen asks Daniel curiously.

"He looks super scary too! Woah!" Everett says as he looks at the picture.

"That's my dad." Daniel says trying to not bring up the sore subject.

"Your dad?" Everett asks Daniel curiously.

"I never seen him before! Like ever! Have I met him before, Papa?" Aspen asks Daniel.

"Yeah! Have I met him, Papa?" Everett also asks Daniel.

Daniel frowns as Joey walks into the room.

"No, you both haven't. None of you kids have met him actually. It is a good thing you haven't. Even Daddy hasn't met him." Daniel says to Joey.

"Really?" Aspen and Everett both say in unison to Daniel and Joey.

"No, I haven't met Papa's dad either. Just Nonna, Uncle Toby snd Uncle Jakob." Joey says as he hugs Daniel trying to cheer him up.

"Can you help me answer these questions? I feel like it is time to tell Aspen and Everett." Daniel says to Joey as he tries to not to cry and Joey happily nods.

"Maybe your mom should help you too." Joey says softly as he walks out of the room quickly to get Maria.

Aspen feels bad for even asking the question in the first place.

"I am sorry Papa. I didn't know this was a sensitive subject. I feel really bad." Aspen says with a frown and hangs her head down.

"No no. It is okay, sweety. This is something that was going to come out eventually. Actually Maxwell ask about my dad a year or so ago and I told him but not as much detail." Daniel says to Aspen and Everett.

"Did your dad die, Papa?" Everett asks Daniel.

"No, bud. My dad is still alive. My dad threw me out of his and Nonna's house when I was seventeen years old. He was very mean to me, your uncles and Nonna. He would yell things and hit me." Daniel says to Aspen and Everett.

"That's so mean." Aspen says with a frown.

Joey comes back into the room with Maria and a box of tissues and hands the tissues to Daniel.

"Why did he kick you out! And why didn't Nonna stop him?" Everett asks Daniel, Joey and Maria.

"Papa's dad was very mean to Nonna, Uncle Toby, Uncle Jacob and Papa. He was mean to all of them." Joey says to Aspen and Everett making both of them frown.

Daniel begins to feel sad for Aspen and Everett learning about this.

"Ev, I came out as gay when I was seventeen years old. Just like how you came out to all of us a few months ago. My dad was not accepting of gay people at all and that's why he kicked me out. Nonna couldn't do anything because he abused her. He would yell very mean things to her." Daniel says to Everett and Aspen.

"When you are in an abusive relationship it is hard to get out. Papa is not mad at Nonna about this at all." Joey says as Daniel nods in agreement.
