smol thing i wrote at two am

her eyes shine brightly, just like the yellow stars that lit up the dark sky. she whispered, softly, almost sounding afraid. "what would it feel like to fly amongst those stars?" her accent is crisp and it makes me feel warm.

i sigh, racing through my head for an answer that wouldn't be terrible and accidentally make her feel bad. "being up high would never be as good as down here with me," i whisper back, my own accent making its way into the conversation.

she smiles that wonderful grin that gives me butterflies. it makes me feel weird and my stomach sloshes around whenever i see it, but tonight was different. i didn't feel that way. i felt more closer, more safe near her than anywhere else. i decide to smile back. and we stay smiling like that, our faces happily keeping that stupid grin late into the night as our backs lay on top of the soft grass underneath. it was just the sky and the stars and the moon and the ground, but more than anything else, it was us.



i kinda wanna make this a story and put all my other books on hiatus. but um, i might —
