When you walk into a theater to a see a live action remake of an animated movie, you're either there because you never saw the original or you just wanted to see how bad they messed it up this time.
I think that the thing most live action remakes get wrong is the visuals
I watched the trailer for the Attack on Titan movie (didn't actually watch the whole thing, and I didn't need to because I'm already upset) and FIRST OF ALL LET'S TALK ABOUT THE VISUALS
In the anime the scene with the colossal titan has a sunset behind the titan and the red color contrasts with it and it's just beautiful
AND THE LIVE ACTION TRAILERS JUST LIKE "OH REMEMBER THAT BEAUTIFUL SCENE IN EPISODE ONE WELL GUESS WHAT NOW ITS ALL JUST PALE GREY AND THE TITAN IS ALSO PALE GREY AND IT JUST STICKS ITS HEAD OVER THE WALL AFTER TWO SECONDS LIKE 'OH YEAH IMMA TAKE OVER SHIGANSHINA NOW' AND THERE'S NO MOMENT OF SUSPENSE OR EPIC MUSIC"

WHAT HAPPENED TO LEVI
WHERE IS HE
YOU'RE TELLING ME THEY REPLACED HIM WITH WHOEVER THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE
OK YEAH SURE
IT'S ONE THING TO MESS UP THE VISUALS, IT'S ANOTHER THING TO COMPLETELY CHANGE THE STORY
Speaking of which
AVATAR THE LAST AIRBENDER
First of all the entire cast is white except for the fire nation
And the fact that they tried to cram the entire first season into one movie meant that they had to throw random facts at you in the middle of the movie
There's a reason that they say "show, don't tell"
Because you're just telling us random information at random times and it has no impact on us and we just forget about it after that
Also the "live action" the lion king is just... Aguvwudvwidbqihdo
WHAT HAPPENED WITH BE PREPARED
THAT WAS MY FAVORITE SONG WHEN I WAS 5 AND IT'S BEEN TAKEN AWAY FROM ME
Part of me doesn't even want to watch the Mulan remake because I swear if they change the lyrics to any of those songs I will actually cry
I JUST WANT TO SING KIRISHIMA'S THEME SONG IN PEACE
