A Description of a Person

His smile was enough to light up a dark room, his laugh enough to make birds sing, and his energy enough to capture my attention. His green eyes were bright with merriment, dimples like deep crevices, teeth on full display when I first saw him. He was sitting in the back of the classroom with his friends talking about something or another. The moment I walked in we made eye contact and I knew I had already lost. This boy was going to be the death of me and I had no chance of survival.

Coming back to reality I walked towards a seat in the opposite side of the room in the far front. He was going to be dangerous for me. I already could tell that he was a player and I didn't want to deal with that again. After all, I came to this school to start new so that was exactly what I was going to do. I refused to fall into his trap.

All throughout the class I could hear him whispering and laughing with his friends in the back of the room. His laugh was marvelous. It was like floating down a lazy river on a tube. So smooth with a little bit of edge because of the ice cold water. That's exactly what his laugh did to me though, it put me on edge.

Awhile in the class the teacher tells us that we'll be choosing lab partners next time. Inside I can't help but wonder "what if we were partners" but I quickly smother that thought. He obviously has friends in this class and I still need to avoid him at all costs. I don't know anyone in this class so I'll just miss next time and have the person whose left over as my partner. Everything will be fine.

Walking in my third day of astronomy I head straight to the spot where I sat last time and a few minutes later I feel a strong and comforting presence next to me but I refuse to look up unless they speak to me. I didn't look over once that day and we didn't really do anything in class again but finish going over the syllabus. Once the bell rings I bolt out the door towards the comforts of my car.

It's the fourth day of class and I've spent all weekend preparing to interact with my new lab partner whomever they may be. After they arrive and we receive our first assignment, I look at them for the first time and my breath catches in my lunges and my cheeks flush with recognition of the boy who sat in the back and caught my heart upon first glance. When he looks up he gives me a large welcoming smile that does little to ease my mind, body, or soul. It's going to be a rough semester.

With A Narrative Summary

The intensity of their relationship was too much for either of them to handle, but they both tried nonetheless. Some say that if they had just avoided each other like they had originally planned, everything would have gone over a lot smoother. But where's the fun in "smoother"?

When Jill walked into astronomy class that first day, she instantly knew that he would be a problem for her. When Jack saw her walk into class that first day, he instantly knew he would be addicted to her. Right at that moment they both decided to fight this connection that had formed almost instantly between them. But when fate has his mind set on something, there's no fighting it. Everyone would agree that it was a cruel trick to have played on them, but their destruction was absolutely beautiful.

Jack had sat down in the very back of the room with his friends and Jill sat in the opposite corner up front to avoid him. It went really well until the teacher mentioned choosing lab partners next class and she instinctively looked back at him. She knew she shouldn't even consider the possibility of working next to him for the rest of the semester but the idea slipped in on it's own so she let it linger for a moment before completely destroying it forever.

When Jill looked back at him, Jack couldn't help the smile that formed on his lips. He would have loved to work with her and get to know her a bit, but he knew that it was a bad idea. Plus his friend Brett would be counting on him to be his lab partner so there was no chance of that happening.

When the bell rang, Jill was the first one out the door and, although he didn't understand why, this hurt Jack. Collecting his stuff, he said goodbye to his friends and headed towards his car. Upon arrival, he noticed a vehicle he didn't recognize parked next to him starting to back up. With further examination, he realised it was Jill driving away. Getting into his car, Jack drove home and noticed two different cars parked outside his neighbor's house, one of which belonged to her.

The next class, Jill was nowhere to be seen. The teacher went down the list of names and assigned the lab partners for that semester. "Brett and Evans, Scott, and Lily, Jack and Jill..." Fate had decided. There was no escape now, they had to work together.

When she walked into class, Jill sat down where she did for the first day of class. A minute or two later she notices a warm, comforting presence next to her but decides not to look up. She kept her eyes trained to the front the whole class until the bell rang and she left.

Jack had tried to catch her eye several times throughout the class period, but Jill seemed to refuse to look at him. It almost hurt him.

Walking in, Jill had decided to interact with whoever had sat down next to her the previous class and try to make her first friend at this school. To say she was shocked when Jack sat down was an understatement. The breath caught in her lunges and her cheeks flushed with recognition and embarrassment. When he looked over at her, a huge grin plastered on his face and they just sat there looking at each other as if lost in time.
