BACKGROUND INFORMATION BEFORE YOU READ:

I kinda changed the timeline a bit. So Damian is 11 right now. This happens about a week before he meets his father. Marinette is 12 and has just became ladybug as of a month or two ago. Alright; that's it and I hope you enjoy the story!

———————————————————

Damian winced in pain.  His bare chest covered in bandages.  Stitched cuts on his cheek.  Dislocated shoulder.  Twisted angle.  He lay helplessly on blood-stained white towels.  His "doctor" worked dutifully on his ankle.  Icing it, ointment, wrapping, repeat.  Successfully, he completed his mission.  The traitors were killed.  Dead and lying on the bottom of the River Thames.

Despite being successful, success takes sacrifice.  Those men, however weaker, had surprised him tonight.  He wasn't properly informed of their skill set.  Surprises like such are prohibited and lead to pointless death.  Which would have been so if this girl hadn't found him when she did.  (He begrudgingly admits).

He was bleeding out in an alley way.  Barely conscious.  The girl, midnight hair.  Bluebell eyes.  French-Chinese.  Wearing pink jeans, a gray blazer and white tank top with a cherry blossom tree branch.  She seemed kind and unsure of herself.  Asking no questions about his intentions, or what he had done.  She simply took him in and started treating his wounds.

Damian was very suspicious of this girl.  He quickly learned her name - Marinette Dupain-Cheng.  Yet despite her kind, clumsy exterior.  She was nimble in her movements, focused, and determined.  Marinette intrigued Damian.  She wasn't like most of the other girls he had seen.  Had interacted with.  She was different.  How?  He wanted to know.

After a deafening endless silence, her voice broke the silence.

"Does it feel any better?" She asked quietly -her voice like softly ringing bells.

Damian planned to remain silent, yet he found himself speaking.

"Tt. It's fine." He stated.

Inwardly, he cursed himself.

Nervously, Marinette laughed. Her light skin crinkling around her eyes in laughter.

"Tt. What's so funny that has you laughing like a moron?" Damian couldn't resist asking.

"N.....nothing." Marinette stuttered.

Damian narrowed his eyes. He didn't take kindly to being lied to, even if it was insignificant.

———————————————————

Marinette noticed his reaction, but said nothing. Who was he to question her motives. After all, wasn't it she who had found him bleeding out in an alley.

Beautiful olive, but scarred and calloused skin. Ender black hair. Emerald deep eyes. There seemed a darkness to him. Yet among the black assassin clothes and hidden weapon, Marinette found herself feeling for him. His sarcastic nature and defensive words. It was odd to say the least. But it didn't take much for Marinette to know that he had a difficult life. He attitude and defensiveness was how he dealed with it. That part was obvious to her.

Building up walls, telling lies. It weighed you down. Although she hadn't been Ladybug for long, it already felt like this huge pressure on her back. A pressure that nobody, especially a twelve year old, should carry. Hawkmoth has been at it for about two months now. Her flirtatious partner, despite her opposition, had been her saving grace. Besides Tikki, he was the only one he could talk to about this. Like her, he was just thrown into this life without any choice or say otherwise.

When she found him in the alley, she didn't question it. Frankly, she didn't want to know. His problems, his past wasn't her business and who was she to ask. We all had secrets. Some bigger than others.

It's why she laughed he had first spoken to her. She didn't know his name, or where he came from. Or even how he got injured. Marinette just felt grateful that he had actually spoken to her. He seemed the type of guy that wouldn't speak to someone without absolutely needing to. Despite his sarcastic voice that tried to hide the pain he was in.

It just made Marinette want to help the boy as much as she can. However, she knew that after tonight, she would probably never see him again.

———————————————————

She had zoned out. Her expression blank. Yet her eyes told another story. A story of a time of happiness turned sour. A secret weight put upon her which shouldn't be there. Her kind eyes slightly wiser. More thoughtful. Empathy and sadness rolled off of her in waves. Just what was she hiding.

With no indication that this "zone out" would stop anytime soon, Damian decided to put a stop to it.

"Damian. You told me your name so it should only be fair that you know mine." He half-lied.

He couldn't care less if he had told her his name or not. Despite his curiosity in her, he needed to get out of here as quickly and efficiently as possible.

However, his words seemed to snap her out of whatever trance she was in.

She smiled awkwardly. Standing up, she said, " I did as much as I could, but you should probably still see a doctor. I'm guessing you should probably get home now huh?"

"Yeah." He stated.

In one quick movement, he stood up. Ignoring the pain in his ankle. Her face turned from surprised, to worried, to reprimanding.

But he just hugged her. It seemed to shut her up as she hugged him back. To her, it was a sign of thanks. To him, he was just placing a tracker on her. She interested him and he wanted to find out just what made her different. And even if he would never admit it, he had actually started to care for this stranger.

Pulling away, he quickly jogged out of the bakery and headed towards his mothers boat parked upstream the Seine.

Maybe one day he'll return to the strange girl. Just maybe.

———————————————————Bonus:

Marinette smiled to herself. He had actually hugged her. Despite loving Adrien wholeheartedly (She hasn't met Luka yet. This is still like season one. Sorry Lukanette fans!) It warmed her heart to see Damian's ice heart melt a little. Maybe she'll see him again. Maybe one day.................

Hey guys! I hope you liked that! I might or might not (Hamlet anyone? To be or not to be?) continue this one. Also, and I know I've been delaying this, generous part two will be coming soon! And if you can, please add this to your reading list, vote, and or comment. Any of the above is immensely appreciated.
