It's raining and Alex's car breaks down and he's like "ima go to that bookstore until the tow truck gets here"

And then he buys a old creepy book cuz why the fuck not

So then he takes it home

He has to Uber from the car fixing people cuz his car needs replacement parts or something

He reads for a while in his living room eating leftover pizza cuz like yeah why not

So then Alex like "what is this a spell?" So he says the words out loud and nothing happens so he's like "damn oh well."

Then he passes out on the couch watching old tv shows

But he wakes up the next day in a different apartment with a blanket tossed over him

He starts panicking until he recognizes that
No
This is his apartment
Just
Nicer?

But that doesn't-

Then there's someone else in the room.
"Hey, Alex," the guy says. He has two toned hair that looks kinda like a skunk and a bit of stubble.
"Jack?" Alex blurts when he sees the somewhat familiar face.

Despite being strangers, it was like he'd known this man his whole life. Alex could list his favorite color, food, and band. He even knew the anniversaries of when they started a band, when they started dating, and when they got married for some reason.

He knew and loved this man that he's somehow never seen before

And now suddenly he was crying

That hole in his chest was filled by this basically stranger and he wasn't even sure why

"Alex? Babe, what's wrong?" Jack asks, rushing over to comfort Alex.
"I just love you so fucking much."

Jack laughs. "You're such a sap." He pulls Alex into a hug. "I love you too, nerd."

Alex knows this is a dream. It has to be. He's never felt this way about anyone.

He never even really loved his parents this much
It's like something in his chest suddenly switched on and all the warmth was brought back into his world

Even colors seemed brighter

"Are you drunk," Jack laughs as Alex sobs even harder into his shoulder
"N-no, I just- I dunno..."

Jack pulls away too quickly, studying Alex suddenly very seriously. "Are you sick? Did something happen? Is- is it cancer? Is it deadly? Are you dying? Is someone dying?" Jacks questions come quicker and quicker with every dark question. He's obviously concerned
"No," Alex whispers. "No. No, I'm fine."
"Are you sure? You're usually not all emotional like this. Nothing's wrong? Because I'll be here no matter what okay. If it's cancer or something, I'll stay with you with or without hair-"
"I'm fine," Alex laughs. "I just...." he's not sure he should say what's going on. "I had a weird dream..."

Jack asks what happened so Alex just explained his normal life
"That sounds. Incredibly depressing and.... very realistic. Are you sure you're okay?"
Alex laughs. "I'm fine, Love. Especially now."

Jack smiles, kissing Alex on the forehead and saying something about needing to make breakfast
Alex suddenly gets a rush of memories of Jack nearly burning down the kitchen

"WAIT!" He half yells, throwing the blanket onto the floor as he jumps off the couch. "I'm making breakfast, not you."
"Nuh-uh. You had a nightmare. I'm making breakfast."
"Compromise," Alex announces. "We go to ihop."
"Fine. But I want the smiley face pancakes with the chocolate chips."
Alex laughs. "You're such a dork."
