The four remaining members of the team sat quietly the store they had taken shelter in, the sound of the dead wandering around outside every now and then the moans that they would elicit could be heard and with every sound they made it would send chills down the groups spines. Other than that all that could be heard was the whimpering of Sergeant Burdock, his body aching and hot as a fever that could deadly took over his body, it wasn't long before he would go, Claire could tell part of her medical training made her the caregiver of the team and although she didn't much care about the man she would never wish to see him dead.
"am I gonna be okay doc?" Burdock whispered, Claire looked over his wound again, the blood seeping through the gauze she had wrapped around his arm mere hours ago, she knew that something was going to happen this mission and here they sat their captain was presumed dead and the sergeant was well on his way there by the looks of things, it seemed as if they did not having a lot going for them right now.
Turning her head her eyes land on the couple whispering to each other by the door, she hoped that they would enjoy the moments together that they had, a part of her didn't think that it was looking likely they were to make it out of this store. she turned herself back towards the man who needed her attention tuning out the whispers of the couple who volume was slowly increasing.
"you cannot go out there!" Natalia spoke in a hushed yet firm tone
" I have to" Isaac replied
"and why is that? are you trying to get yourself killed?" her eyes held a unique fire he hadn't seen since for a long time
"No!... of course not, but we can't stay here forever, somebody has to radio for help" he tried to reason with her about their chances of survival but she would not take it
"and why does it have to be you?" she spoke
"well.. we dont exactly have many options,do we Nat?" he hadn't meant to be harsh, but he knew it had to be him, Burdock was out of the question and Claire was needed to take care of him, dont even start him on letting Nat go, he would never live if something happened to her
"I can go, we can go together" she suggested
"Nat.. it has to be me" his hand raised to her face, lifting her chin to have her eyes meet his as he spoke
"I know..." as she looked at the man she loved she slowly came to terms with the reality of their situation, if they had wanted to make it back alive he would have to go, and she would have to let him.
"I'll come back for you when i've radioed for help, maybe found a car" his arms encircling around her back as he brought her body to his and felt her head rest on his shoulder
