AU WHOUFFLE.
In this, Eleven doesn't regenerate quite in canon. Clara leaves, and Eleven gets a new companion. Peter Capaldi's Doctor won't be included. It takes place after tNotD, the 50th never happens.
-----------------------------
It had been exactly 67 days since Clara had last seen the Doctor. He'd taken her to a resturant near her apartment, run to the TARDIS with a promise to be "back in a moment", never to come back. She still returned to the place every morning in the hope that maybe he'd just gotten the date wrong.
Clara sat down at the corner table where'd she'd sat waiting for the Doctor over two months ago. Just like yesterday, and the say before, and the day before that.
As she sat, doubts began to naw at her mind. They had been for a while, and it was getting harder for her to ignore them. What if the Doctor had willingly left her here? No, that wasn't like him. But yet... after jumping into his timestream, after he'd solved her 'mystery', he had been acting oddly distant. No flirting, none of the smiles or the sideways glances or the hugging. Had he been getting bored of her? Maybe all she ever was to him was a game, a challenge to prove to himself how clever he was, maybe she had never really been his friend at all.
She was snapped out of her reverie by a voice she'd begun to know rather well. "What shall it be today, Miss Clara? Oh, I know. Coffee, two sugars and cream, as usual? And the panini?" It blonde waitress who greeted her every morning. A glossy silver name tag on her uniform identified her as Melissa.
"Thanks, that'd be lovely." Clara gave her a quick smile, and Melissa hustled off to get her food.
Delving back into her thoughts, Clara almost didn't notice the once-familiar grinding, whirring sound of a blue time machine.
