The Dreadful Deed

Chapter 16

The quadrumvirate didn't know that they were being followed. A certain someone knows about their secret now, and it is none other than Roother Traijin. After the masquerade and the murder that happened, he is restless so he decided to go for a walk first. He saw a white furry cat and started to play with it to ease his stress.

Roother was about to play with the fur again but it suddenly ran towards the side of a post where there is a fish, he followed the cat and it began to eat. He began to pet the cat again while it eats until he saw a group of people that seem to be discussing a very important topic. He slowly went up to the next post near the four and hid behind it so he could hear what they are talking about.

He was about to attack Klaudius because he saw him holding Jean's wrist so tightly but he calmed himself. He continued listening until he heard jean speaking "Since all of us want to graduate and escape, I suggest we form a team! I know it's a rule to kill here if we want to graduate but it didn't say who! So Instead of killing students why don't we kill the principal himself?." His eyes widened in shock and his jaw dropped at what he heard. Rule? Kill? Kill to graduate? He couldn't understand what he just heard! It can't possibly be! He thought to himself.

He saw the cat running again but he stayed still. He couldn't move, his brain is still processing what he heard. What if it's fake news? But Klaudius and Irene didn't even look surprised!

I should tell this to my brother so that we can leave this school right away. He carefully stepped back and he froze when his feet hit a bottle. It dropped to the ground creating a loud noise that caught Yin's attention. Yin peeked to see who did but he didn't see anyone, instead, he just saw another cat. He just shrugged it off and continued talking. Roother let out a sigh for he did not get caught and ran as fast as he can.

Klaudius' POV

I woke up late, as usual. I didn't care about our first period and I want to sleep some more so I went to the library and slept there like what I always do. I decided to go down to our classroom in the second period but I remembered its history so I slept again but this time, in class. I woke up and saw our history teacher still in front so I just waited for him to finish teaching so I could eat.

The bell rang and I immediately went to the cafeteria to eat. No murder today, how strange I began to walk towards the restroom and saw a man trembling outside the first cubicle and I immediately went there and saw that there was a pool of blood on the floor. I opened it I was shocked by what I saw. I turned my head on the poor boy.

"Who are you?"

"T-third Blaustin" the guy replied, still shivering

"Do you know her?" I asked, still observing the lifeless body

"Yes, he is the famous Avien Noah." I nodded at his statement. The boy had scratches everywhere and it seems that a blunt object hit him. Do you know any possible suspects?

"Avien has many rivals in this school so there's a lot of possible suspects"

I went out for a minute to think. I saw Jean seating in the cafeteria and I immediately went to her. "Someone died again today."

Jean stopped eating "W-who?"

"Avien Noah" her eyes widened

"That boy had so many rivals in this school! I remember him beating up Treeckson Traijin for talking to his girlfriend!"

"Oh, and who's the girl?"

"Seriously, are you living under the rock or something? They are the power couple of this school! Avien Noah and Anwen Honse!" she sighed in disbelief

We decided to call the other two so that they could help us in solving this. When the two sat down, Jean retold the story and everything that he knows about him.

"Any witnesses?"

"I just saw Third Blaustin outside the cubicle."

"Oh, that's his best friend!" Yin added.

I nodded. Nothing seems suspicious about that guy. What bothers me is the scratches I saw earlier.

"Let's check again the crime scene, shall we?" Irene suggested.

We all nodded and followed her to the restroom. We began to observe until Irene presented a small ziplock with a white fur on it.

"So it's a cat's scratch after all."

"But the scratches are weird." Jean pointed out.

"It's like, there is a hidden message behind it or something," Yin mumbled hesitantly.

Irene looked at him for a moment "I think I saw this cipher before" we all looked at her "Ah! That's it! Dorabella cipher!" Jean immediately took out a piece of paper and gave it to her. Irene started to write the cipher in the paper and crack the code with ease.

"Riza." she stated "What does that mean? We don't have a classmate named Riza though." Yin butted in while thinking.

"Root" they turned their heads to me "The Greek word for root is Riza, I read it from a book before." they looked amazed at what I said.

"Well, there's only one person in this school with a root in his name"

"Roother Traijin" Jean continued.

"About that white fur, I think I saw it before" now, our attention is onto Yin "When the four of us are talking, I saw a white cat outside. It hit the bottle and created a loud sound so I had to take a peek." there was a moment of silence between us four until Irene spoke.

"What if it's not a cat?"

"What do you mean?" Yin asked, confused. "What if, it's Roother himself and he heard about the rule?"

"It all connects, huh? He is the twin of Treeckson Traijin which was beaten up by Avien Noah. I often see him with cats and of course, he has root on his name which if translated in Greek is Riza." We all nodded at what Jean said. It all makes sense now.
