Charlie clenched his jaw, his eyes focused on the phone in his hand. Katherine had accidentally shattered the object and Charlie was livid. His entire life was on that phone. His music, his photos, his contacts.

"Charlie, I didn't mean-" He didn't let her finish, he was quick to speed up and wrap his hands around her neck and snap it like a twig. Her body fell to the floor in a heap and Klaus made a sound of enjoyment. Charlie didn't seem like the type of person to just up and kill people but he quite enjoyed this side of the boy.

"Well, well, well, that was entertaining," Klaus chuckled, going back to what he was doing while Greta and Maddox stared at him, almost frightened by his behavior. It wasn't because of his power, no, it was because Charlie didn't have an ounce of remorse in his eyes.

"I've been wanting to do that since I was brought here," Charlie sighed, almost like all of the tension that had been building in his body, was released.

Alaric stood across from Jenna in the hall, his hands up in surrender. "Stay away from me!" Jenna snapped, holding up the crossbow in her hands.

Elena, Stefan, Damon, and Elijah join Jenna in the hallway, tensing up when they saw the human that Klaus was possessing. "What's going on?"

"It's me, Elena, I swear, okay? He let me go. Klaus let me go." Alaric explained, his eyes darting between the doppelganger and his girlfriend who currently holds a deadly weapon in her hands, trained on him.

Damon's eyes narrowed on his best friend. "Prove it."

Alaric looked to Jenna, wracking his brain before something came to mind. "Okay, uh, the first night you and I spent together, Jeremy walked in right when I was about to-"

"It's him," Jenna interrupts him, dropping the crossbow.

"Why did he let you go?" Stefan asked, his eyebrows furrowing in confusion. It almost seemed too easy.

"He wanted me to deliver a message," Alaric explained before he looked to Elena, a frown on his lips. "The sacrifice happens tonight."

Elena, of course, was terrified but that wasn't what she was worried about. "And Charlie? He's okay, right? You saw him?"

Alaric nodded as he thought back to the unusually quiet boy. "He didn't seem like he was himself but other than that, he's alive."

"Of course he is, he's like a cockroach, he just doesn't seem to die."

Everyone ignored Damon's comment but Elijah was quick to join the conversation. "He 'didn't seem like himself'?"

Alaric's eyebrows furrowed as he looked at Elijah. "He just seemed tired, he had bags under his eyes, and he wasn't talking as much as he usually does. It was like his energy was being drained."

Elijah pursed his lips before he released a breath he was holding making Elena's eyes narrowed at the original vampire. "Elijah, is that bad?" His silence peaked the interests of the others. "Elijah, what's wrong with Charlie?" Elena snapped him out of his daze.

"When I found Charlie, he was dead." He began as he wandered back to the foyer, the others following him. "There wasn't any sign of life. I brought a witch and she performed a spell to bring him back. It's dangerous but his soul was on the other side, a place where supernatural beings go. He shouldn't have been over there seeing as he's human just like your family -"

"Charlie is adopted." Jenna blurted making everyone's eyes snap to her in shock. "Your parents were struggling to have kids and this baby boy showed up at the hospital, perfectly healthy. It was easy for them to adopt him. I was never supposed to tell anyone but it seemed like it was important now."
