The beginning of every great story does not, in fact, start at the very beginning. There is always a pretense that is never stated, certain events that occurred that never find the pages. However, the past has a funny way of popping up in our lives, becoming frustratingly relevant at seemingly terrible times. We rarely discover that a revelation of the past was necessary to overcome certain obstacles until afterwards, when the issue has passed and someone has triumphed (be it hero or villain). So really, in this story (whether it be great or not depends on you) the past will be not be left untold, but will occur in times you least expect it.
