They gathered around Boggs to examine the Holo projection of the street. The gunfire pod was about a third of the way down from them, just above an awning. They would be able to trigger it with bullets of their own.
The next was at the far end of the street, almost hitting the next corner. That one would need a person to act as a trigger.
Everyone volunteered, wanting something to do. Besides Peeta. None of the victors, or Gale, were picked.
Saffreen and Katniss received dabs of makeup for any close-ups that might have occurred.
They got into positions, waiting for Cressida and her crew to get prepared.
A few smoke bombs were set off and then Cressida called, "Action!"
They made way slowly down the street. Saffreen pretended that it was just the Block, that it wasn't real.
Everyone had their own section of windows to shoot out. Gale, however, was the one to get the real fun.
The others took cover in doorways or dropped low to the ground as Gale triggered the burst of bullets.
When he was sure it was over, Boggs ordered the group forward.
Cressida stopped everyone before they could move, taking some close-up shots. They acted out their movements, ducking away from the danger, all while gritting their teeth just for the audience's anticipation.
They were all laughing by the time Boggs decided that was enough, reprimanding them for not taking anything seriously. "Pull it together, Four-Five-One," he said, suppressing a smile of his own. He brought up the Holo to double-check for the second pod, taking a step back, foot pressing down on an orange stone.
An explosion burst up the ground, taking Boggs's legs with it.
Their laughter turned into horrified screams. Blood spattered across the pastel stones. Real smoke filled the air, choking Saffreen as she closed her eyes, stumbling back.
A second explosion made her cry out as her stomach wrenched horribly.
She moved back, too stunned to even register that Boggs had to be dying, even as the medic rushed over to him.
