The laugh she let out felt bitter, it sliced at the air between them and shredded the upper hand he'd thought he had. She stared into his eyes, blood stained hands hanging at her sides and jaw clenched. Selene watched him for a moment, watched his gaze fall from her face to her hands then back again, and watched his adams apple bob as he took the smallest step forward.
