days felt heavier
as if drowning is
the best way out,
the street lights
flickered in agony
as we passed by,
maybe it felt the
same way as ours,
we used to be there
since the start
where sneaking out
at midnight was the
best we could do
to ease the voices in
our heads and hide
behind each other's
flesh,
we used to be there
walking along
cemented paths,
talking about how
colossal the universe was
above our heads,
we used to be there
during the times
we were so sure
that my hand
fit in the spaces
of yours and my
head nestles
perfectly in
your shoulders,
we used to be there
as we,
now,
the streets lugged
utter sadness as
grim as the stormy
skies and the lights
went dim as we
said goodbye,
we used to be there
as we but then
i broke it
and the one who
remained was you,
it was my affliction who
broke us,
it was my second guesses,
my confusions,
the war inside my head,
it was as massive as the universe
and as dark as the storm,
it was difficult,
grief-stricken,
distraught,
i would take the blame
for the lights who flickered
and for the void in the streets,
i would take the blame
for leaving you there
at midnight,
take this poem as
a promise of returning,
i will fight demons
and conquer places
just to go back to you

by then,
wait for me,
under the lamppost
where we used to be,
when the sun rises
on the horizon
we'll meet
and i'll never have
to leave you until it sets
forever

by then, wait for me,under the lamppostwhere we used to be, when the sun riseson the horizonwe'll meetand i'll never haveto leave you until it setsforever
