Right now your head was rested on the lap atop your bestfriend Shadow in a field the two of you called your 'little getaway space.' The two of you would always go there if something happened and felt the need to separate yourself from the world for a bit.
This time however, nothing in particular was wrong, you two just wanted the quiet sound but mostly the secluded area to yourselves.
You sat up; facing him as he scrolled through his phone with his speaker beside him. You and Shadow liked the quiet, but sometimes it was too boring so to solve the problem he'd play some music to lighten the mood.
He scrolled through his phone and played a song.
"Shads, what is this garbage?" Your face scrunched up at the unfamiliar song.
"Classical music" He replied, "Bach"
"I didn't peg you for the nerdy pianist type" You laughed.
"Bach is not nerdy!" Shadow countered.
"Let's get some real music up in here" You took out your phone and connected it to the speaker, picking a the song Tear in my heart by a band called Twentyonepilots.

"What the hell?" He furrowed his eyebrows as you shrugged in response.
The music blasted out the speaker as Shadow groaned. You playfully hit his shoulder earning a whine in response.
"Really? First you hijack my speaker and then you have the audacity to hit me, shocking behavior (y/n)" He scoffed trying to hit you back but miserably failing.

He suppressed a laugh, intertwining his fingers with yours.
Shadow spun you around and you couldn't help but think back to when you two first met, a lot changed;
"Honey why don't you try making friends?" Your mother questioned you.
She had taken you to a friend's birthday party and decided you could tag along since there were other kids your age.
"Okay mommy"
The songs on the radio are okay

Your eyes scanned the room for another person to talk to, until your eyes landed on a black and red hedgehog.
You waltzed over to the boy and tapped his shoulder, "Hello, I'm (Y/n) my mommy said to make some fri-"
"I don't talk to girls, get the fuck out of my face" He replied bluntly.
Tears formed in your eyes, despite being only 6 you understood every word the boy said to you. You didn't know why but it really hurt when this particular hedgehog turned you down so rudely.
Shadow exhaled feeling some what bad. He didn't know why but it hurt him to see this girl cry.

"Hey, m' sorry. Let's start over" he said, "I'm Shadow"
"I'm (Y/N)" You sniffled trying to regulate your breathing, "Could you maybe be my friend?"
"Sure" he sighed.
You pulled him into a hug and nuzzled your head in the crook of his neck.
He blushed hugging you back.
"You know Shadow, I think we're gonna be great friends!"
The young hedgehog didn't know it yet but he would actually enjoy hanging out with the girl. Even when he made the stupid decision of ditching her for new friends, he realized what a stupid mistake he'd made and ran back to her, simply because he just missed her.
He wouldn't even know he'd spend countless nights without sleep just thinking of her and only her. She was all that was in his head, and he didn't mind it one bit.

From that day on since the party they spent every second together. Where ever she went he wasn't far to follow.
But Shadow couldn't help but think;
