"I feel like things have been so frosty since we skived out of here a few weeks ago." Beth laughed playfully as we pulled up to work the next morning.
"I know, he's been kind of weird since, ain't he?" I said, I reached round and got my bag from the back seat.
She sighed, "oh well, the show must go on."
We both got out the car and walked in to the building. I hated this place. I still can't believe I left university and now I'm stuck here.
I sat down at my desk and opened my new list for the week. Monday morning. Back to square one with the list. "Olivia, a moment please." I heard Richard say from the office. I turned and looked at him, standing at his office door.
I pushed my seat out and walked towards him, seeing Beth's confused face as I passed. He sat down at his desk as I walked in. "Close the door." He instructed.
What was going on? I done as he asked and walked over and sat down. "I take it I'm not here for a promotion." I tried to make him laugh.
"I'm letting you go, Olivia." He said.
Oh no. "What? Why?" I asked immediately.
"Business isn't exactly booming. Last one in first one out." He looked down at a bit of paper on the desk.
I thought about it for a few seconds, "No, the two boys both came in after me." I objected.
He sighed, "business is business." He said rudely. I could see a hint of a smirk on his face.
I felt anger build in my stomach, "oh I know what this is about. This is because I walked out a few weeks ago." I slouched back in my chair and crossed my arms over my chest. "You know? I prefer if you're gonna act a dick then be an honest dick." I snapped.
He looked up from the paper and his eyes met mine, I had caught his attention now. "There is one way you can keep your job." He smirked before opening his bottle of water and pouring it in to a cup, not taking his eyes off mine.
I stood from the chair and bent over the desk towards him. "You know what, Richard? Shove your job." I said angrily. I reached over and picked up his freshly filled up cup and launched the contents over him.
He wiped his face. "Get out of here!" He yelled.
I looked at his bottle, still half full with water. "Just one more thing." I picked up the bottle and tipped the rest of the water over his keyboard. I smirked at his horrified face, "have a nice day, Richard." I turned and walked out the office. What an asshole.
"What just happened?" Beth was out her chair watching the full thing unfold.
"He's an asshole. I'll see you at home." I walked by her and grabbed my bag from my desk and made my way out the office for the last time.
I got in to my car and let out a sigh of relief. I started up my car and drove down the street. Stupid Richard.
I sat at the traffic lights waiting for them to turn green, I glanced out the window and saw two people I recognised. Jack and Brad. With a lot of shopping bags.
Hmmm, maybe I could hang out with them since it's ten in the morning and I have nothing to do for the rest of the day. I beeped and they both looked over. I waved and pointed to the part of the road after the traffic lights that I could stop.
