Percy say there, looking and watching the storm. It was peaceful in a way. The down pour was hard, but it was steady and wasn't crazy. It had a pattern. It went pitter, patter, pitter, patter. It wasn't just pounding down onto the ground in large clusters.
Percy managed to calm down his anger. He was going to spend the day, relaxing with his dad and sister. No one can take that away. So he was unhappy at the start of the day, but he can spend the rest of the day happy, could he not?
He decided he should get up and get ready for the day. It wasn't really that early. It was only 5 am. Percy was used to getting up at 3am to get on plane rides or even go to interviews.
He first went to the bathroom and splashed some water on his face. As always, he was rejuvenated and refreshed.
He knew he definitely needed a shower too. He was in the same clothes for about three days.
After his shower he went to his dresser. Most of his clothes were plain t-shirts and some jeans. He settled on a plain blue shirt with black jeans along with a sea green hoodie that really brought out his eyes. What? He knew style.
He tried his best to comb his unruly hair. But ended up failing. As long as there were no knots in it he would be fine.
He read the clock, 6:15 am. Breakfast was severed at 6:30 so he still had time. He scrolled through his Instagram. He had gotten my "I'm sorry for your loss" dms. Tears stung his eyes as he scrolled through all of them. Some people, like his former directors, even posted long paragraphs of how Sally would be missed. Percy know he had to make his own but every way he thought of how to do it wasn't good enough in his eyes.
But he knew it must be done.
He scrolled through his photos, saving ones with Sally in them to a new folder, mom. He then filtered through all of those till he got his favorite. He made a picture collage of all the photos.
Percy posted it with a paragraph of his hopes. Of his sadness. Of his tears. As he wrote tears flowed more than ever before.
When he was done he wiped them all away. He then practiced a real looking smile in the mirror. He could usually do one, but he had broken. He was no longer ok. He needed love.
Once his smile was real enough, he walked downstairs to eat breakfast. He smelled pancakes, his favorite.
"Hey Piper, hey d- Tristan." Percy greeted his new family.
He looked Tristan in the eyes, "can I," he faltered. "Can I call you dad?"
Tristan was shocked. "Of course you can." Tristan shock turned to happiness. "Of course you can, son."
Piper watched happily. They family of three all smiled, happy they all considered each other family.
Itsalinebreak
Things were great for a week or two. Then Tristan got a call.
"What do you mean he can't stay here anymore?" Tristan shouted angrily at the man on the other line of the phone.
Percy has just walked downstairs. "Who's he talking to?" He mouthed his sister.
But Piper merely shrugged. The siblings watched their dad.
"No. You can't take him away from me. He, he's my son."
Percy watched more closely. This was about him. What was happening? Did he have other living relatives?
"It's, it's only temporary?"
Percy has thousands of questions running trough his mind. What was only temporary? Where was he going? What was happening?
"Summer," Tristan muttered. "Thats too long. You can't take him from me." He shouted.
Why can't I decide what happened to me? Percy thought.
"Why doesn't the boy decide where he stays?"
Wow. Is dad a mind reader? Percy thought.
"Yes." Tristan said hopefully. "He's right here."
It's quiet. Then Percy is handed the phone.
"Hello?" He says cautiously.
"Hello. I'm Chiron Brunner. I knew your mother pretty well. I also was helping in planning her funeral."
The funeral. Percy remembered the funeral. Or he didn't really. He was in tears the whole time.
"Yes. But what were you and," Percy pauses. "What were you and my dad talking about?"
Chiron seemed surprised that Percy called Tristan dad. "In your mothers will, she wrote done that if she somehow died before you turned 16, but after you turned 10, that she wanted you to go to my summer camp in New York."
"How long would I be going?" The boy asked.
"Well, per year, about three months. But you can stay longer and come all the years you want."
"What kinda camp is it?"
"It's an regular summer camp. Except only certain people are aloud to come. Your father is the reason your aloud in. He wrote your name down for us the second you were born." Chiron responded.
"I'm gonna need some time to talk about it with my family. A day or two probably. I'll call you when I have my discussion." Percy tells the older man.
Chiron sighs. "Ok. You can have a few days. But please do consider coming Perseus."
Percy then hung up the phone.
"What do you want to do?" Tristan asks him shakily.
"I'm sorry but I think I want to go. It's only 1/4 of the year leaving 3/4 to spend with you guys. My mom wanted me to go there and so did my dad. It'd be like I can share a piece of them." Percy said.
"You're right. It's just I'll miss you." Tristan says.
"I will too but I'm not really sure what's happening." Piper butts into the conversation.
"Sorry Piper. My mom put I her will that if she somehow dies before I'm 16, but after I'm 10, she wanted me to go to this camp. My dad signed me up when I was born and only special people are allowed in."
"Oh," Piper said. "I'm glad your going. You have a chance to connect with something your dad did or wanted you to do."
"Yeah. Me too. But I'll miss you guys and text you if I can. If not, I'll write letters. I'm gonna go pack my bags."
Percy waved then walked up stairs to his room to pack.
