Reader POV

You loved Nozel, but lately, he's been getting on your nerves.

"Can't you just have dinner with us?" You had asked.

He had just gotten a plate and went back to his office. "Too much to do, sorry."

He hasn't come to bed either, nor seen Ace or Yukio to school like he usually does.

You decided to go cheer him up. Getting him some of those cookies he loves along with some coffee, you went into his office.

He was swamped with paperwork.

"Yes?" He didn't look up.

"Nozel."

"What do you want, (y/n). I'm very busy right now."

You were taken aback by his sharp attitude. "Nozel. I brought you a snack."

"Put it over there," he was referring to a table nearby.

You did just so. "Will you be able to have dinner with us? Noah just got some time off from the Silver Eagles."

It was a rare occurrence since Nebra didn't like 'slackers'.

"Might be able to, might not. Is there anything else you need?"

You shook your head. "No."

"Then please leave. I need to finish my report."

You sighed and just before you closed his office door you said; "Nozel, I love you. You know that, right?"

He didn't respond.

Feeling down, you then decided it was probably just him stressed out.

Though usually, he just got rid of it with you. After all, sex was one of the best stress relievers.

"Maybe we just need to do that," you thought aloud.

Noah came home that night. "Where's Dad?"

Ace and the others looked to you expectantly.

"He's not coming down tonight," you said. "He's doing some paperwork."

Yukio shrugged as did Ace. Noah noticed how you said that with a sigh.

3rd POV

After dinner, Noah decided to walk upstairs to his father's office in the castle.

He opened the door, only to let out a scream.

Guards heard him and came rushing, as did you and the rest of your family.

Nozel was in his office with a woman who you haven't seen in years.

Revia Milox (ayo, who remembers this one?).

She was on his desk, seducing your husband who was flustered.

"(y/n), it's not what it looks like-" Nozel began.

"So this is what you meant. I can really see. You are busy." You turned around and stormed to your room.

Nozel saw his children who were hardly ever sad give him sad and betrayed looks.

Nozel glared at Revia. "I told you never to bother my family or I ever again! You just created a scene-"

"Don't even try!" She snapped. "You know damn well that I didn't come to fuck you, Nozel. I simply tripped on my dress and fell on your desk.

"And why should I believe you?" He hissed. "Things between my wife and I aren't the best!"

"Then go fix it! Our business can wait!"

"I already told you! I'm not giving you any money!" Nozel stormed out of his office after telling the guards to never let this woman step into the palace without someone trustworthy.

He ran up to the room you both shared, desperate to fix this.

You had placed an enchantment so he couldn't enter.

"(y/n)...let me in," he said softly.

Reader POV

You opened your grimoire and placed another layer of enchantment. It was a spell that your father had used when trying to hide you and your mother so no one would find you.

"Please...let me explain."

"Explain out there!" You were in tears.

Nozel let out a sigh. "Fine. She was begging me to pay for something that her father needed instead of working. She had tripped on her damn dress and that's why she was on my desk. Please believe me."

"Why should I?" You shouted. "You've been distant, Nozel! I...I don't think you love me anymore!"

Nozel was silent. "I do."

"Then what the hell was the past half year, Nozel?"

He leaned against the door outside. "(y/n), you know that I've been busy with the new files since so many joined the magic knights..."

"But you didn't have to be so sour about it." You said. "If you really weren't busy with Lady Milox, then what is really going on?"

Nozel said nothing. "I'm sorry, (y/n). I can't tell you."

"Then I can't forgive you."

"Why not?" Nozel was getting frustrated. "You know I fucking love you!"

"We've been maried for sixteen years, Nozel. You need to tell me when things are bad!"

He was fuming now. "Like when you told me that you're going to the Spade Kingdom to see the remains of Megicula's memories that he left in the house?"

Your jaw dropped. "How did you-"

"How did I know?" Nozel scoffed. "You know I don't want you delving deeper into Megicula's memories! I knew because Yuno told me!"

You didn't like how he is acting. "Goodnight, Nozel."

"Now just a moment! Open the door right now, (y/n)."

You activated the soundproof walls again and closed your eyes.

"Dark Demonic Magic: Silent Screams of Styx."

His shouts were closed off.

This spell allowed the caster to hear nothing but silence.

And that's how you slept.

Nozel POV

I was still shouting to her to let me in when I realized that she had used a spell to cut me off.

"Shit." I collapsed outside of the door that I was unable to open, no matter how many spells I used.

Silence came over the castle.

I knew I shouldn't have brought up what Yuno told me...but something inside me snapped.

If (y/n) wasn't going to listen to me, then I wouldn't hesitate to snap back.

I went to my office to finish loads of paperwork. If I finished it tonight, I would have tomorrow off to fix things between (y/n) and I.

I already had went to Ace, Yukio, and Noah and explained what happened.

At first, they were reluctant to believe me.

But they knew I never lied so they did.
