Max arrived at school with excitement; she had a good idea and wanted to share it with her friends, hoping they would agree. When she entered the building, Mike, Lucas, Abigail, and Dustin were talking with each other.
- "Hey guys!" said the redhead with a big smile.
- "Hey Max! Did you see the lion which ran away from the zoo!?" told Lucas.
- "Yeah bu—"
- "Crazy, huh? Thanks God it's not here!" continued Dustin.
- "Cool, bu—"
- "Maybe he could arrive here!" stated Mike.
- "They didn't find him yet!?" said Abigail.
Max gave up; she would try when they were over with this story of lion. At the same moment, Beverly arrived in running and cut their conversation by saying:
- "LET'S PREPARE A SURPRISE FOR JANE'S BIRTHDAY!"
- "Bev!" got irritated Max.
- "What?"
- "I was supposed to say that!"
- "Oh...Why didn't you?" frowned Bev.
- "I couldn't get a word in edgeways! Too busy talking about this lion!"
- "Oh yeah you saw th—"
- "Stop! Not now, just take a break so we can talk about Jane's birthday before she arrives, ok?"
- "Yeah, sure, go on," said Abigail.
- "So, Will told me that her sister would certainly be here for her birthday; they would go to...I don't know, and while they are out, we can prepare a surprise, what do you think?"
- "Sounds cool," smiled Lucas.
- "Do you have an idea for her present?" asked Dustin.
- "Um...it depends on how much you're ready to give..." told shyly Max.
- "Oh my god, what kind of idea you have again!?" intervened Abigail.
- "Well, Jane talks a lot about the sky, flying, or things like that, so...I was thinking of a parachute jump..."
Her friends all wide opened their eyes, fearing the prize.
- "You know how much it costs!?" asked Mike.
- "One jump it's around 380 dollars...If everyone participates, we would give around 40 dollars, each of us..."
- "What!? Do we look rich for you!?"
- "I know, I know, it's too much...I can think of something else, I guess..."
- "Yes please!"
- "But you all agree to make a surprise for Jane, right?"
- "Of course," smiled Bev.
Max nodded to thank them before walking away, letting her five friends together.
- "You really don't wanna give forty dollars for Jane?" asked Abigail.
- "It's a lot! And Will's birthday is just a few weeks after hers!" stated Mike.
- "Come on, it's not like if we were spending this much money all the time!" told Dustin. "And, it's Jane, I mean, it's not nobody, she had a complicated year, even if it's better with Max now, she still lost her dog, so, I give forty dollars, for her, to make her smile."
- "Me too," added Lucas.
- "(sighs with his mouth) I guess I can do that too," told Mike.
- "Cool, we can tell her it's ok!" said happily Bev.
Farther in the halls, Max arrived at her locker. Jane entered the building which made her smile. She was disappointed that her friends didn't want to pay for Jane's parachute jump. Well, she wasn't surprised, it was expensive, she could understand, but still. Anyway, Jane was approaching, and the redhead was very happy to see her. They gave each other a quick kiss before both opening their lockers.
- "Did you see about this lion who ran away from his zoo?" told Jane with an excited tone.
- "Oh yeah! That's crazy! Maybe we'll meet him here!" answered Max with the same excitement.
- "I hope not! It's too scary, I don't want him to eat us!"
- "Yeah, good point, but maybe they'll release him in his natural habitat!"
- "It would be so cool."
Max didn't really have hope for this lion, every time an animal was considered as too "dangerous", he was put down, but Jane didn't need to know that. The redhead heard a "ding" coming from her phone. It was a message from Bev, telling her that everyone agreed to participate for the parachute jump.
- "Oh yeah!" yelled happily Max.
- "What makes you so happy?" smiled Jane with a frown.
- "Oh, uh, nothing."
- "(nods) Ok, well, no matter what it is, I'm glad it makes you happy."
- "Jane, (grabs her chin and slowly approaches) you're too cute for this world," stated the redhead before kissing her.
When she broke the kiss, Jane answered:
- "I know."
Max kissed her cheek before freeing her. The two girls took their books for their class before walking in the halls.
- "I heard your sister would come back to your home, that's great," said the redhead.
- "Yeah, well, two men assaulted her and Robin because of Dany, so she thinks she should take care of this before going back to work," explained Jane. "She is supposed to arrive tonight."
- "That's great, even if the reason sucks."
- "Yeah, but she'll be here for my birthday, we'll certainly go out for a movie with mom and Will, and maybe Jonathan, if he is free."
- "Cool, sounds like a good birthday."
- "Yeah," nodded the brunette.
Max grabbed her girlfriend's hand and rubbed it. She was so excited for this surprise; she knew Jane would like it; she couldn't wait to see her happy smile when she would see all of them just for her. It would be a good day.
