Luke's POV

I brought her back to the apartment in akward silence.

After she told me that the man leaving her apartment last night was her cousin, I only replied with an "Oh." and my cheeks redden from embarrassment.

It was an akward drive after our conversation.

Now, we're at her front door.

"Thanks for the lunch!" she saud smiling.

"No problem. I'll pick you up tomorrow at 8pm."

"Sure." she replied. Then she kissed me on the cheek.

I stood frozen.

I can't believe it! She kissed me on the cheek!

"Goodnight handsome!" she said before stepping inside and closing the door.

AHHHHHHHHH!!!!!

After I scream at her words internally, I walked back to my apartment.

Once I got in, I noticed an envelope at my feet.

I wonder what this is?

I picked it up and place it on the counter.

I texted Belle.

Luke: Hey! Just wondering if you got a letter?
Belle: Yeah! I found it after I closed the door.
Luke: Have you read it?
Belle: Nope.
Luke: Ok then. I was just wondering. Goodnight Princess!
WHY DID I TYPE THAT?
Belle: Using Pet Names huh?
Luke: What? You called me handsome!
Belle: I called you that because you are handsome.
AHHHHHHHH!
Luke: Well, I'm calling you that because you are my princess.
SHIT! Why did I say that?
Belle: If you say so. Goodnight!

I placed my phone down and picked up the envelope to open it.

I found a letter inside of it.

Weird. What could this be? Could it be because my payment is due?

I unfolded it and it read:

Dear Mr. Johnson,

I would like to inform you that there would be a new tenant living in the building. She would be at the same floor as you. Please, try to make her feel comfortable. It would be great for her. She will be arriving by tomorrow at 7am sharp.

Sincerely,
Mr. Woods

Oh.

So it's about a new tenant.

It's not about my payment?

I flipped it back.

There was a note.

It read:

P.S. Your payment is due Mr. Johnson.
I expect it by next week.

Damn! I thought to myself.

I placed it back into the envelope and placed it in my drawer.

The rest of the day flew by fast. I went to bed.

I remember something.

I remember the day when my heart broke.

It was my senior year in college.

It was our anniversary.

I planned to propose to her that day.

I remember pulling out my keys and sliding it into the door knob.

Once I entered our apartment, she was nowhere to be seen.

Then, I heard some screaming.

I followed it and it led me to our room.

I opened it and my jaw dropped.

My heart broke.

She was in bed with a man.

But not just any man.

It was my bestfriend.

Jake.

"JAKE!" she screamed loudly.

She was on top of him.

I ran out.

It was pouring once I got outside.

I remember her screaming before me.

"LOOK OUT!" they both screamed.

After they screamed, I saw two lights at my side.

It collided with me.

Then, there was darkness.

I should have looked.

I should have stopped.

"AHHHHHHHH!" I screamed and woke up with sweat.

Why did I dream about that day?

The day when my heart broke.

The day when I got into an accident.

The day when my dream was crushed.
