Unexpected Surprises

Today Josie's aunt and her daughter Aaliyah are flying in from California. Josie is nervous to see what her reaction might be but she's even more worried about tomorrows dinner with the Damien's family. Derek keeps telling Josie not to stress out over the baby but he seems to be another reason for her stressing out.

Right now Josie is out buying a few things for her daughter and Chris is out working. Derek came home early due to him not feeling well. I was in the kitchen making myself a small meal.

I saw Derek come into the kitchen grabbing some asprin he seemed stressed about something.

"How are you feeling?" I asked him

He sat down on the stool right across from me.

"Stressed, worried, confused" he replied

"Why?"

"I'm stressed out because I've never had a kid before and now although Aaliyah isn't biologically mine, it'll be as if she is and I wanna be the best step dad I can be to her.  I'm worried that Josie and I won't work out and that she'll go for Damien and take my child away from me. Also I'm confused on my feelings for Josie."

Wow that was a lot to take in for him, but his feelings for Josie?

"I understand that it's a lot to take in but what do you mean on your feelings on Josie?" I asked

"It's complicated I feel as if I'm in an away tied up to her just because she's carrying my baby."

"It's thought you loved her"

"I do she is perfect but I just worry about the future"

"Well you shouldn't. Just focus on right now and in the end if you don't see a committed with her then just find a relationship with her as the mother of your child."

"Ok I guess"

"Yea well you better hurry up and get ready Josie and her daughter are gonna be here any moment."

About an hour later I heard the doorbell ring. There before me a stood a beautiful short girl with blonde straight hair and blue eyes. Behind her stood a middle aged woman with long brown hair and brown eyes who I'm pretty sure was Josie's aunt.

"Hey you must be Amy, Josies aunt and this cutie must be Aaliyah. Nice to meet you guys"

"Yes we are and it's nice to meet you to"

"Thanks I'm Alison by the way. So Josie will be here any minute she just went to go buy a few things"

"Ok but can I ask where will we be staying"

"Yes follow me" I said leading them to the guest room.

I lead them to the guest room upstairs.

"So if you don't mind me asking. How long will you guys be staying? " I asked her

"I'm only staying tonight and I'll be flying back tomorrow but Aaliyah is staying with Josie"

"Oh ok but I kinda thought you would stay longer"

"I'm wish but I have a job to run back home"

"I'm home!" I heard someone yell from downstairs. Josie

"We're upstairs" I yelled back

Josie came in with her mouth dangling wide open

"Hi aunt Amy" she finally greets her aunt then walks over to Aaliyah.

"Hi baby girl" she says to Aaliyah with tears forming in her eyes

Aaliyah walks over to her and hugs her.

"Are you my mommy?" Asked Aaliyah

"Yes baby girl I am" Josie replied

"Where were you mommy?"

"Mommy was working every day" Josie lied

"Can I stay with you mommy?"

"Of course sweetheart. You can stay forever"

Derek came in a few moments later

"Hey Derek this is my aunt Amy and this is Aaliyah" Josie introduced

"Nice to meet you Amy" he said shaking her hand

"Are you my daddy?" Aaliyah asked

Derek froze and looked at Josie for support but Josie just stood there speechless until Derek spoke up

"Yes I am" Derek finally said.

"Daddy" Aaliyah yelled running towards him

Derek picked her up still looking confused and Josie looking more worried.

Chris entered the room a few minutes later.

"Hey babe" he said leaning over to kiss me

"Hey I'd like you to meet Josie's aunt Amy and your niece Aaliyah"

"Nice to meet you" Chris said shaking her hand

Then Chris walked over to Aaliyah who was still in Dereks arms.

"Hi gorgeous, I'm your uncle Chris" Chris introduced himself to Aaliyah

"Hi" Aaliyah responded shyly

"Does Aaliyah know that Derek isn't her dad?" Chris whispered in Josie's eat

Josie shook her head

Chris seemed a little mad that Derek was taking credit for Aaliyah when it should really be Damien.

"Oh I almost forgot I to tell you guys Damien will be here at seven"

We all froze and looked up at Chris

"What?!" Josie yelled

"I didn't know Aaliyah would be here this early and besides it's for business inquiries so it shouldn't be a problem" Chris said trying to calm Josie down

"There is a problem Chris.  What if he sees Aaliyah"

"Then he does. He's going to find out someday"

I did feel a little bad for Josie hut in a way she was the one who dug herself into this mess.
