Okay, so hear me out
Kace and Pietro had been having a crazy few months. Between missions and Kace's mental health, things had just gotten a bit overwhelming so Pietro decided they should go camping. They found a nice little cabin in the woods upstate that they could stay in for a week or so. There was no cell service or anything which was perfect for them to clear their minds. But after the first night, they got in a huge fight. One that was so bad, Pietro actually laid a hand on him which he had never done. Kace didn't even know he was capable of hurting him. He was in so much shock and so hurt, that he went running out the door in nothing but a hoodie, skinny jeans, and his converse. It was the middle of winter, snow falling around him as he ran before he got completely turned around. By morning, he was stumbling around aimlessly as he tried to find his way back. Hypothermia kicked in and by nightfall, an animal attack (not sure what kind of animal it would be) Pietro couldn't find him anywhere and ended up rushing to the nearest police station where they got a search party and eventually found him. But was it too late?
