Chapter Three

I woke up early to be the one to cook breakfast for Felix and me. I didn't cook eggs this time to avoid any feedback, but I do know how to cook pancit canton. When I glanced at the clock, it was only five o'clock. Napatingin ako sa hagdan ng marinig ko ang pagbukas ng pinto mula sa taas.

When I saw Felix coming down while wiping his eyes, I immediately hugged him, "Good morning, hon. I cooked you some instant noodles and then I went outside para bumili ng nilagang itlog."

I saw Felix's face, with a furrowed brow, staring at me. I jokingly slapped him and abruptly let go of my hug, then served him some rice.

"Bakit parang ang aga mo naman ata, hon? Anong oras ba pasok mo?" Felix asked while finding a spoon and fork from the dishwash cabinet. 

"Sinangag para sayo. May manok pa diyan sa lamesa, kumain ka na," I reminded as I placed the fried rice on a large plate. "Maaga pasok ko ngayon dahil maaga akong matatapos mamaya, may pasok pa ako ng hapon," I explained as I sat down to eat.

Felix smiled slightly and took a sip of coffee before asking. "Bali hindi ka na sasabay sa 'kin pumasok?" 

"Oo, hon, e. Mukhang hindi na muna, kasi baka mapag-initan na naman kami, lalo na ako ni Mrs. Romaine, 'yung masungit na head namin," dagdag ko pa. "I'll make it up as I was also late yesterday."

Felix seemed disapproved of with my response. I understand where he's coming from because we've always done everything together, even since our first step into college before we decided to live together. 

"Babawi ako sa susunod, hon. Kumain ka na diyan, aalis na ko." I swiftly kissed Felix on the cheek before hurriedly leaving. "Pasensya na, hon. Can you please do the dishes for me? Kahit ngayon lang? Thank you. I love you!" Pahabol ko.

"Aalis ka na agad? Hindi pa ubos 'yung pagkain mo pati 'yung kape mo. Don't compromise your health because of your job, okay? I love you too!" rinig kong sabi ni Felix bago ako tuluyang makalabas ng apartment.

I was assigned to clean the pool area today, which is located at the topmost part of the building. I found that there were no people around because it was still early in the morning to go swimming at that time. From the crack of dawn, sweat was already pouring down my face due to my lack of sleep. 

I paused from my cleaning when I felt a vibration and saw on the screen that someone was calling me. Oh shoot! I forgot to put this in my bag earlier. Malalagot ako kay Mrs. Romaine nito. Agad ko naman itong sinagot ng makitang si Felix ang tumatawag.

"Hi, hon. Papasok ka na ba?" bungad ko sa kanya pagkasagot ng calls. "May inihanda akong baon mo diyan pala, nasa ref," pagpapaalala ko sa kanya. I completely forgot to remind him before I left the house, which is why I couldn't shake off the feeling of forgetting something while I was on the bus. Turns out, there really was something I forgot.

"Nakaalis na ko, hon. Hindi ko napansin na pinagluto mo pala ako. Salamat, hon. Babawi ako sa susunod." Si Felix, sa kabilang linya. "Gusto ko lang marinig boses mo bago pumasok."
