"For medical residency?" Upon hearing a voice Karylle quickly turned and saw a prominent looking lady wearing white coat, hands on its pocket.
Karylle smiled "Uhmm Yes," She said in almost questioning tone.
"Dr. Amy Castillo." magiliw na nakipagkamay ang babae kay Karylle.
"Nice to meet you Dr.Castillo" Karylle genuinely smiled. "Likewise" the lady replied. "I'm Ana Karylle Tatlonghari. Karylle or K for short" she smiled.
"So, welcome to Hopedale Karylle," Amy smiled back at her "Shall we take your picture now for your ID?" Amy informed, Karylle just nod. Amy lead their way towards a small room near the hospital lounge.
"You look tense, relax" nangingiting pagbasag ni Amy sa katahimikan habang hinihintay nilang maprint ang ID ni Karylle, tensyonado naman napabaling ng tingin ang dalaga sa kasama kaya lalong natawa sa kanya ang babae. "Alam mo ganyang ganyan din ako nong first day of medical residency ko and believe me, med school is nothing compared to this"
"Three years of residency is no doubt the toughest but the most amazing time of your life, pero the first year as an intern is the craziest of them all." She continued, looking at Karylle with 'believe me' kind of look.
"Oy hindi kita tinatakot ha! Sinasabi ko lang naman yung totoo" natatawang tumango ang dalaga sa kausap.
"Let's say na hinanda ko na sarili ko sa ganyan" Karylle chuckled "I've been dreaming of working here at Hopedale for years, and alam ko na hindi magiging madali yon once maka pasok ako. Knowing that this is Hopedale Medical Center-one of the most prestigious teaching hospital dito sa pinas"
Amy gave her an amused look "mukhang nakapag research ka ng maayos ah" napatawa na lang ang dalaga.
Matapos ang ilang minuto ay natapos naring maprint ang ID ng dalaga.
"My first day as a Doctor! Pakiramdam ko nananaginip parin ako" Karylle laughed trying to ease off her nervousness as she put her ID on her uniform.
Amy gave her an encouraging pat. "Any words of advice?" Karylle asked. Amy smiled, saying "make friends with your fellow interns, your senior residents and even your patients. Friends will get you through everything. Another thing, never try to annoy the attendings! You do not want to be on the bad side of your boss. There are tough people here Doctor Tatlonghari, sabihin nalang natin na hindi magiging madali ang makatrabaho sila especially if si Doctor Viceral ang naging attending mo" Karylle gulped upon hearing that name.
She forced a smile "Noted."
