Perfectly Imperfect

Chapter 14

I woke up and put on a black pencil skirt with a button-up white shirt that I tucked in along with a black blazer. I grabbed my black purse and met Jake downstairs. We drove to the office, as I walked in James greeted me.

"Good morning Ms. Rivers, how do you like your coffee?" he asks me

"Good morning James, with cream and a little bit of cinnamon," I told him

"I'm on it ma'am," he told me before quickly walking into the building.

Jake and I went into the elevator and went up to the top floor where many people who are applying for jobs here.

"Good morning," I greeted everyone

"Good morning Ms. Rivers," they reply smartly

"We will be calling you in, in alphabetical order," I told them

"Yes ma'am," they said in unison

James handed me a clipboard with everyone's names and my coffee, "Where's my office?" I whispered to him

He pointed down the hallway past the reception-where we are standing- to the door at the end of the hallway and I nodded at him. I looked down at the clipboard, "Ms. Anna Brookes?" I asked

"That is me, ma'am," a girl with brown hair up into a bun and brown eyes, she looked in her mid-20s. I moved my head telling her to follow me, as I turned on my heel and walked towards my office as Jake and Anna followed me.

I sat down in my chair behind my desk and took a small sip of my coffee as Anna sat in front of me and Jake sat on the couch by the window. I saw her eyes move to Jake and wink

"Okay, bye," I said to her

"Wha- excuse me ma'am?" she asked

"I said, out!" I told her

Tears well in her eyes as she stands up and walks out. James calls in the next person who is a guy. I read over his resume, he has great experience in bookkeeping, his expertise would be very good for the job. I looked over at Jake who nodded in agreement.

"Congrats Mr. Balton, you have the job," I stood up as he did and we shook hands, "You will start tomorrow, if you need any more information please ask my assistant Mr. James who is right outside the door," I told him

"Yes, thank you, ma'am," he said before leaving.

We finished for the day. We now have a secretary and many other employees. A few girls being very flirty with my fiance who ended up crying after they got caught. Halfway through looking for people my heels started killing me, thank God I had brought my flats along with me. Jake helped me throughout and caught a couple of guys who tried to flirt with me, which I barely even noticed. Right now I'm going through papers and talking to a couple of customers, it's 8:45 right now.

"Babe, come on, you are exhausted right now," Jake told me, "And you have more employees to look for tomorrow, you need sleep," he told me

"Fine, okay," I said and closed down my laptop after replying to the necessary emails and getting up. I grabbed my briefcase and my heels then put my laptop and some papers in my briefcase.

We walked outside and got into the car. Jake drove home then we went to bed.

The next was a complete repeat of the day before but a little more manageable because I only had to respond to a couple of emails, instead the new employees answered them. I went through a stack of papers and gave some other papers to other employees.
