" We don't need to be talking to understand one another. "

Anh Huynh was never alone in San Francisco. She was met with silence only in her sleep, still sometimes interrupted by the sounds of the night; never peaceful. She enjoyed things more, that way.

The streets of Tokyo bustled with noise in a familiar way, all bright lights and odd smells and new cultures. The libraries at Ouran Academy, her temporary school, were equally as loud. Even with her broken Japanese, she was always talking and never quiet and never alone. Only in the evenings did Tokyo hold an unnerving sort of silence, welcomed by her host family, and unfamiliar to her.
