Beyond The Walls (The Maze Runner)

Chapter 3- Misunderstanding

That night I didn't dream. I just slept in complete darkness waiting to be refilled with energy.

I felt someone shaking my shoulders

"Wake up greenie it's tour time"

I opened my eyes to see Alby

"What time is it" I said flipping over on my stomach. My face was now In my hammock making it hard to breathe

"It's time to wake up" he said

I groaned and got up to see I was the last one to wake up. Me and Alby walked along the grass as he explained the rules of the glade

"1. Don't slack off, we don't need any slackers, 2. Never hurt another glader, and 3 the most important rule never go beyond the walls"

"What's out there" I asked

"Nothing you need to know, just stay out of it, it's dangerous"

I was interested to see what was out there but Alby told me if I disobey one of the rules it could result in my banishment from the glade. And I didn't want that

Alby showed me every job

The slicers, the baggers, the sloppers, the builders, the med-jack, the track-hoe, the cooks, and the runners.

"You will get to try them out the next few days"

Alby finished our tour and told me I would have the rest of the day off so I decided to go talk to Newt since he didn't look busy

"Hey Newt" I said as I approached him

"Hey y/n did you finish the tour"

"Yeah I have the rest of the day off and I have no clue what to do"

"It's almost lunch time we can head over to where we eat"

"Ok"

Me and Newt talked on our way to get food. When we got there FryPan was serving ham sandwiches. Me and Newt grabbed our food and sat down with Minho and Chuck

"Hey guy and gal" Minho said

"Hey" me and newt said as we sat down

Chuck and Minho sat and gossiped while I just ate but something caught my attention at the builders table. All of the boys where looking at me laughing and whispering. They looked like a bunch of three year olds.

"I'll be back" I said to the table and they all have me a confused look

I walked over to the builders table and slammed my hands down on the table making a loud bang. They all looked at me shocked

"Any one of you shanks want to tell me what's your problem" I said fiercely

"Ooo looks like we got a fiery one" a man named Adam said

"What's your problem" another man said trying to sound cool. It didn't.

"My problem is that you guys don't know any respect you go around the place acting like you own it and your all high and mighty when you all are just a piece of klunk" I said raising my voice

"Oh I'm so hurt, I think you just shattered my heart princess"

Oh hell no

"Aww I'm so sorry do you need my to call a Med-jack" I said with a fake pouty face

Then Adam got up from his table and moved closer to me

"I know you want me" he said while grabbing my waist

This is not ok. I slapped him with as much force as I could and ran towards the deadheads crying

Why are they doing this to me?
Why am I stuck here?
Why can't I go home wherever it is?
Why can't I remember anything except my name?

Finally I made it to the very back corner of the deadheads crying my eyes out. My head was buried in my knees. In the few moments I had been there I heard a twig snap

"Who's there" I tried to say strong but it came out shaky and weak

"It's just me y/n" I heard as Gally emerged from the trees

"What the hell do you want"

"I just wanted to make sure your ok, I know they can be klunk heads" he said sincerely

I looked at him confused. Why would he want to help me?

"Why did you come to cheer me up I thought you hated me" I said still crying

"I don't hate you it's just I'm still not used to a girl being around I am just as confused as you are"

"I want to go home wherever that is"

"Well I don't think we're going to be escaping anytime soon so how about we just head back, you can finish your food and I'll give Adam extra work tomorrow" he said reaching his hand out to help me up

I waited a few seconds then grabbed it and we both made our way back to our tables

Newt looked at me weird

"Why did Gally go after you" he asked

"He just wanted to cheer me up"

He looked confused

"What" I asked

"He's never nice" he says lifting an eyebrow

"Weird" I say finishing my food
