professor lockwood was interrupted by the doors opening preemptively , revealing a hall of polishes grandeur . there were four tables and each one was packed full , save for space at the end , which was assuredly left for the new arrivals . the noise ceased when the first years began to walk inside . every single pair of eyes in the vicinity turned to stare at the young children . ahead of them was a tattered old hat sat upon a wobbly stool , and that is where they stopped . a man in his upper - fifties with a fantastic head of hair and a pair of sweeping blue robes stood at the head table . he smiled at the newcomers and old returners and said ,
" WELCOME , STUDENTS OLD AND NEW . I DON'T LIKE LONG SPEECHES , SO I'LL CUT THIS SHORT — LET THE SORTING BEGIN ! "

anyone with a character of year 2+ can roleplay on this chapter , so long as you get your form in within 24 hours . there will be a real sorting ceremony , so if you put a house on your 1st year student's form , it was disregarded . jack and i sorted the oc's based off of their personalities :)
