Lily's P.O.V.

My name is Lily Thomas. I'm 23 years old, and my life was perfect, up until now. My parents were killed in a fiery car crash by a drunk driver, and my relationship with my first boyfriend ended in disaster shortly thereafter. I don't have any friends either, which is the worst part.

What's that? You don't know who my boyfriend was? I'm so sorry! Let me fill you in on that. I dated the bassist of a band called The Beatles. His name is Paul McCartney, and he's known to all as "the cute one". We started dating in the spring of 1960 and our relationship was picture perfect.

In the summer of 1962, I caught Paul kissing another girl while we were out one night having drinks. I was in shock to see that my own boyfriend cheated on me behind my back. He tried to explain that he was drunk, but I didn't listen. I stormed out of the bar and he followed me out, trying to apologize. I told him we were over, I never wanted to talk to him ever again, I didn't need him anymore, and that I no longer loved him. Shortly after I left him alone, he broke down into tears and cried a river.

The year is now 1964, and it's been two years since I've seen or heard from Paul. Honestly, I'm not in the mood to run into him after what happened. Even if I did, I'd rather be just friends with him, since I'm not ready to date for a while.

Two Years Ago

Paul and I decided to go out and enjoy some drinks. We both ordered our own beverages. Paul asked for a beer, and I wanted a wine. After we got our drinks, we clinked them together and drank to a night of fun. We even chatted happily and talked about Paul's music career.

"Hey, I'm gonna stop at the bathroom real quick." I said. "Alrighty, love. I'll wait for you." Said Paul. I kissed him on his cheek and made my way to the bathroom.

After I came back, I saw another girl with my boyfriend, she was KISSING him, and Paul was kissing her back!! "Paul?!?!" I said out loud. "Lily!! I-I can explain!" Paul stuttered. Before he could say anything, I just stormed out of the bar. Paul follows me out

"Lily, wait! Don't leave! Let me explain, please!" He pleaded. I turned towards him angrily. "Explain what?!" I growled. "I was just drunk!" Paul said. "Oh really?" I asked with an annoyed tone. "Yes really! I'm so sorry!" Said Paul.

I just crossed my arms and gave my boyfriend a 'seriously' expression. "Please say something!" Paul begged. "We're done, Paul!" I said. "What?!" Asked Paul as his voice cracked. "I never wanna speak to you again, I don't need you anymore, and I hate you!! Goodbye, Paul!" I said angrily.

I stormed off before Paul had a chance to say anything else. I ignored his pleas and just kept going as he collapsed to the ground and broke down into tears.

Present Day

For this particular day, I've decided to just sit and listen to my Beatles records. I love the band, by the way. But hearing Paul's voice is very bittersweet, I love hearing him sing, but I can't help but cry missing him. I thought he loved me. If he did, he wouldn't have cheated on me.

Anyway, I'm listening to The Beatles' record, With The Beatles. I sat and listened until my favorite songs on the album, Please Mister Postman and Roll Over Beethoven came on. I jumped off my bed and started singing and dancing to them.

Wait, oh yes, wait a minute, Mister Postman
Wait, wai-ai-ai-ait Mister Postman

Mister Postman look and see
(Oh, yeah) Is there a letter in your bag for me?
(Please, please, Mister Postman) I been waiting a long, long time
(Oh, yeah) Since I heard from that girl of mine

There must be some word today
From my girlfriend so far away
Please, Mister Postman, look and see
If there's a letter, a letter for me
I been standing here waiting, Mister Postman
So patiently
For just a card or just a letter
Saying she's returning home to me

Mister Postman look and see
(Oh, yeah) Is there a letter in your bag for me?
(Please, please, Mister Postman) I been waiting a long, long time
(Oh, yeah) Since I heard from that girl of mine

So many days you passed me by
See the tear standing in my eye
You didn't stop to make me feel better
By leaving me a card or a letter

Mister Postman (Mister Postman), look and see
Is there a letter in your bag for me?
I been waiting a long, long time
Since I heard from that girlfriend of mine

You gotta wait a minute, wait a minute, oh yeah
Wait a minute, wait a minute, oh yeah
You gotta wait a minute, wait a minute, oh yeah
Check it and see, one more time for me

You gotta wait a minute, wait a minute, oh yeah
wait a minute, wait a minute, oh yeah
Mister Postman, oh yeah
Deliver the letter, the sooner the better

You gotta wait a minute, wait a minute, oh yeah
wait a minute, wait a minute, oh yeah
You gotta wait a minute, wait a minute, oh yeah
You gotta wait a minute, wait a minute, oh yeah

After hearing my one favorite song on the album, I prepared myself for my other favorite.

Well, gonna write a little letter
Gonna mail it to my local DJ
It's a rockin' little record
I want my jockey to play
Roll over Beethoven
Gotta hear it again today

You know my temperature's risin'
And the jukebox's blows a fuse
My heart's beatin' rhythm
And my soul keeps singing the blues
Roll over Beethoven
And tell Tchaikovsky the news

I got a rockin' pneumonia
I need a shot of rhythm and blues (woo)
I think I got it off the writer
Sittin' down by the rhythm revue
Roll over Beethoven
We're rockin' in two by two

Well, if you feel it and like it
Well, get your lover and reel and rock it
Roll it over and move on up just
Triffle further and reel and rock it
Roll it over, roll over Beethoven
Rockin' in two by two (woo)

Well early in the morning, I'm a giving you the warning
Don't you step on my blue suede shoes
Hey diddle diddle, I'll play my fiddle
Ain't got nothing to lose
Roll over Beethoven
And tell Tchaikovsky the news

You know she winks like a glow worm
Dance like a spinning top
She's got a crazy partner
Oughta see them reel and rock
Long as she's got a dime
The music will never stop

Roll over Beethoven
Roll over Beethoven
Roll over Beethoven
Roll over Beethoven
Roll over Beethoven
Dig to these rhythm and blues

I always have the most energy whenever those songs pop up. Moments after I reached the last song, I put it away and got myself ready for bed.
