Don't Give Up || A Pearl Harbor Story || Completed

ONE

My friend, Talisha and I were in my backyard playing.
I was pretending to get shot down in war and she would save me as a nurse.
We didn't know it, but she was moving to Hawaii. Her parents didn't tell anyone but family that this move was occurring.
When I went to the tree that's infringe of both our houses the next day and she didn't show up, I thought that yesterday was the last day I would ever see her, but boy was I wrong. The next time I see her she would be my patient.

A year passed and I was six, I learned to fly and plane and flew it everyday since. Shortly after my eighteenth birthday I became a nurse in the military.

I'm on a train with Betty, Evelyn, Barbra, Maria and Shannon.

Evelyn told us about how she meet Rafe McCawley. I'll have to admit it wasn't the dreamiest story, but it was a good one.
The train soon stopped and we got off.

We were then greeted to Rafe.
"Got any friends?" Betty asked.
he stepped to the side with a grin "your choice"

I of course meet Danny, he was so uhm hot.
We talked for awhile and then slow song came on.
I tugged on Danny's arm.
"Let's go" I whispered.
he smiled and followed me.
we danced for a little while. then, we kissed.
when we pulled away we both blushed.

Later we went to our own rooms.
I fell asleep asleep as soon as I hit the pillow.

I woke, Got ready and grabbed my bags. we were being restationed to Pearl Harbor.
There were rumors of a war happening, which made me scared as ever.

The girls and I meet everyone at the airport. Evelyn and Danny seemed off.
So you pulled Danny aside.

"Danny, what's wrong?"
"It's Rafe, he went to England to fight in the war."
"I'm sure he'll be fine" you both smile and board the plane.

You sat with Betty and Evelyn.
You guys talked for some of it and slept the other half.

You guys boarded a boat after getting your luggage.
You all settled in at the house and meet other nurses.

"So... What should we do?" I ask
"Let's head over to the Arizona!" Shannon said
we all walked to the boat, there was a boxing match going on, even the flighters were betting on it.

We meet some head chiefs of the Arizona and meet up with the guys, except Evelyn she went to get some sleep.

We talked all night with the guys, it was getting late.
"Not to be a party pooper but we should get going" Barbra said.
we all groaned and got up.

"I'll see you tomorrow Danny"
"See ya" he said kissing you, which you returned.

You guys got to the house and they all went to be except you and Evelyn who was still watching TV.
"Hey Ev, you have every right to be upset but you should live a little. You don't wanna regret not doing anything"
she smiled. "Your right" as hugs you which you return.

you guys then go to bed

Your in the hospital sorting tools out when Danny comes in.
He hugs you from behind.
"Hey Love" You say still organizing
"Hey, just wanted to ask you something"
"Go for it" You say turning around to him.
"Will you be my girlfriend?"
you blush and smile "of course Danny!" You kiss him and it turns into a makeout sesh. but you pull away
"Dont you have work?" I ask
"Yeah, But being late is worth it if I'm with you"
I blushed "Well get going. Love you"
"Love you too Alissa"

Your walking around town and it's getting late.
"Let's stop by the hanger to see Earl!" Betty says
"Sounds good."

You guy get there and can't find him so you go in the parachute place.

you hear Betty gasp and you follow where her eyes are.
Danny and Evelyn are making out.

"What the hell?!" You basically shout.

they look at you. "I-it's not what it looks like Baby" Danny says
"Hes right, we were talking about Rafe and it got heated" Evelyn said.
"I'm so done with you! How could you Danny? You said you loved me, but I guess you were wrong." You storm out and hear Betty yelling how she's gonna tell Rafe and Earl about this.

When we got back to the house I broke down in tears. Betty told them what happened. They were comforting me then she walked in.
They all gave a death stares and ignored her.

I fell asleep on the couch with Betty in the other end. Maria out a blanket on us.

I woke up to darkness. The clock read 5:30am.
I decided to get ready.

I went to the hanger and saw Earl.
"Hey Alissa, your up early today"
"Yeah, couldn't sleep to well"
he took a drag of his cigarette "How come?" He asked. Earl is like a father to me, he would be my dads age.
"Caught Danny and Evelyn making out in the hanger last night."
"They What?" He hissed
"You heard me..."
"Your the nicest and prettiest girl in the nurse crew, and on the damn island!" He hollered.

Red, Steve, and Sam walked out.
"Oh morning guys" me and Earl say
"Danny won't stop going on about how he messed up. He even cried" Sam said
I shrugged my shoulders "not my problem, is it Earl?"
"Yeah, if he wants to apologize he can do it himself, she ain't running back to him. And guess what, I told Rafe" earl said

They all looked down.
"Anyway Earl, wanna bet when the Japs are gonna hit us?"
"Sure I saw December 30th"
"Ok, December 7th"
"How much?"
"$100"
you guys shake on it.

You have off today so you just hang around.
"There's a  Mitsubishi A6M in the old hanger, broke down engine. Wanna try to fix er? If you do she's yours" Earl said
"Yeah" you grab his tools and run over.

it's been 8 hours and you finished the engine. It works but your gonna keep it a secret.
"HEY!! Earl I'm gonna come by tomorrow and work on her some more" You say walking to him, you see Rafe?
"Rafe?"
"That's me"
you hug him.
"How's it been?!"
"Heard about Danny and Evelyn. Damn thought she loved me"
"Thought the same about Danny"

then Evelyn pulls up with Betty, who's in the back as far from her as possible.
Betty goes to red and Evelyn comes to Rafe.
"Rafe, I'm so so so sorry! You don't understand! It wasn't right and I know, I've been ignored for weeks and lost my bestfriend."
you felt bad.
"Why should I forgive you?" Rafe questioned her
"Cause I'm carrying your damn child!"

our jaws dropped.
I hugged Evelyn, who hugged me back.
"IM GONNA BE AN AUNT" I yelled causing Betty to join the screaming.

We settled down and realized that Danny and all were out here.
"We'll see you guys around, congratulations Evelyn"
"Thank you bff"
I hugged her and started walking. I was a few blocks from home when Danny stopped me.
"Hey."  He said
"Hi"
"I'm sorry. I know what I did was wrong, I lost you the nicest and prettiest person on the island and nursing crew. Please take me back?"
"Fine, please don't leave me though"
"I won't!" He says kissing me.

We went the home I was at, no ones here.
Let's just say things got heated.

"I gotta head back, see you tomorrow love" Danny says kissing you.
you kissed back " see ya, love you."

A few weeks passed and everything's on track again, the planes working but only Earl knows.
Your pregnant and you only told Betty and Evelyn.
Betty's engaged to Red!

Today's December 4th. We are at the bar, and got a little tipsy.
We went home before anything happened.
