My Dear Friend (Short Story)

ASHLYN

"G-gusto kita A-ash. In fact nung nasa elementary palang tayo, I liked you the first time I saw you" Kinakabahang pag-amin ni Jake.

Andito kami ngayon sa park malapit sa school ko.  St. Therese School, It's an all girls catholic school anyways. Si Jake naman ay sa St. James School which is all boys naman. We studied at the same school in elementary and we're childhood friends. It's our lunch break and he texted me to meet him here dahil may sasabihin daw syang importante, and here it is.

"Do you mean while we were friends for 10 years, you've liked me?" Nagtatakang tanong ko dito. I didn't know. I just really thought he's acting sweet and protective on me because he see me as his younger sister since were both solo childs.

He looked down and answered 'yes'. Hindi ko alam kung pano ko sya sasagutin ng hindi sya masasaktan but I can't lie on him. he's my friend, and a closest one.

"I-it must have been hard"

"I've been thinking a lot I thought we might not be friends after confessing this" He look sad and I hate it. "But still, I'm the only person who can understand you. I-i mean, n-not just like an o-ordinary couple-"

"I see, Do I have to answer now Jake?" I cut him off.

"No. but-"

I sigh. "Pag-iisipan ko muna Jake, And I'll tell you by the end of the day" I saw how hurt he is and disappointment is all over his face but he still manage to say 'okay' when I know that he knew already the answer.

I was walking home thinking about Jake's confession nang may bigla nalang umakbay sakin at muntik na kong madapa. shit! I was about to smack whoever this is when I realize it was Frankie, na-concious tuloy ako omg!

"Oi Why so serious Ashlyn?" Curious na tanong nito.

"Wala! I'm just hungry" I was thankful kasi hindi ako nag-stutter sa sagot ko. I sigh

"Naah di mo ko maloloko Ash! If you're hungry it means there's something going on. C'mon Ash we're not bestfriends for nothing!" Napaismid nalang ako dito. She know me too well eh? tsk

"Pano mo nalaman?" Painosenteng tanong ko nalang, knowing Frankie, kukulitin nya ako.

"Who is he? Just tell me I'll teach him a lesson!" Sigang sabi nito at kunwari pang fineflex ang invisible muscles nya. Natawa nalang ako sa kanya. Kulit din eh

"Haaaa, I don't know!" Napadaing nalang ako at nagpatuloy kaming maglakad. Pano ba naman umakbay ulit sya sakin and this time mahigpit na

"Oh sorry!" niluwagan naman nito ang pagkakaakbay. "-Pero di nga Ash? Is something really going on?" I make face at di ko nalang pinansin yung tanong nya.

Ramirez's Residence (Ashlyn's House)

Nandito kami ngayon sa kwarto ko. Knowing how annoying Frankie is, wala na kong nagawa kundi patambayin sya samin.

"Ash, since we kissed, he keeps trying to take me to gloomy places. Karaoke, Cafe and even in his room. Argh, I hate it!" Pag-oopen up nya sakin about sa nangyayari between her and her boyfriend, Chase. Here we go again, Frankie and her rants. Napairap nalang ako.

Napaisip naman ako. Frank hates her boyfriend pero ayaw naman nya makipagbreak, Tsk. She really is weird sometimes, no scratch that I mean always!
