LOVE SAITO WAS BORN WITH A BOUNTY ON HER HEAD—and she was completely unaware of it. She was blind to the fact that she was a notorious legend in the Fire Nation, and that the reason for it being that her father was General Saito: the best military general the Fire Nation's ever seen—and also it's greatest traitor. While the Fire Nation had been able to seize him and his wife, executing them for their treason, they never managed to find the couple's child and Firelord Azulon considered that one of his few, few failures. Not long after, the legend of the lost Saito came to be, widely known throughout the nation due to its infamy.
Oblivious to all of this, Love grew up in Ba Sing Se with her adoptive family. She lived a life of peace and normalcy, up until the day she almost burned her home to the ground. Much to Love's dismay (and utter surprise), that wasn't the only unusual thing that happened to her. The fire she pushed out from her palms was strange; a color she had never thought fire benders could conjure—one so blue it could be mistaken for black. Love knew that she could never breathe a word about this to her family, sure that they would freak and cast her out to the streets so that they wouldn't be harboring an illegal fire bender (if that was even what she was). So, during the dead of the night, she would sneak out to somewhere she knew nobody would find her and practice her newfound abilities. As the years went by, Love improved more and more on her bending—it feeling so natural, so intrinsic to her that it was shocking. And though that only piqued her curiosity further (who were her birth parents? how could she fire bend? why did she have this strange power?), Love soon learned to accept the fact that her questions would probably never be answered.
But then two mysterious refugees—one with a wicked scar on his face, the other with a unique talent for making tea—were hired at her dad's tea shop, bringing all the secrets of her ancestry with them, and suddenly that all changed.

author's note: ahhh i'm so happy atla got added to the US netflix!!!!!!!! i don't think anyone underSTANDS how long i've been wanting for this to happen, and now that i've binge watched it all over again i just had to make a fic for my bby zuko 🥺 he literally deserves all the love so i decided to give it to him,,,, literally 🙈 but i grew up with this series and i adore it with my whole heart so i can't wait to write for zuko and love!! it's gonna be,,, one hell of a ride so buckle up folks. also huge thanks to @blushfulcries for the gorgeous cover <333
