Chapter 2
I closed my eyes trying to place my fear behind me when they threw me upwards. I held my breath until i was back on the hands of the boys. Pinagpapawisan akong bumaba sa mga bisig nila. My legs even wobbled a little. Buti nalang ay na-alalayan akong tumayo ni Kuya Mark, a student of grade 10.
"That's great, Khione! More pratice and you can do it more gracefully!" natutuwang sabi ng choreographer at mentor nila.
We've been practicing since this noon until now. Malapit na atang mag 6pm.
I went to the bleachers and sat down.
I saw Marie walking towards me with a frown on her face. I chuckled when she sat beside me and grabbed the water bottle that i was about to drink.
"Oh, ano nanamang problema mo?" i asked.
"Ayaw ko ng tinatapon ako sa ere. Nakakahilo," she said and drank.
"Same thoughts."
Some prefered to stay in that school and some transferred either in Tuguegarao or in Gonzaga. Meron ding lumipat sa Manila. While Marie followed me here. Dapat nga ay sa isang school siya sa Manila i-eenrol, but she declined. Ayaw niya raw doon dahil sa pollution, which by the way i highly agree to.
I looked at my wristwatch at mukhang kapag hindi pa ako naka uwi ngayon, si kuya na mismo ang susundo saakin.
Kuya Kai never liked me joining in this event.
What an upgrade.
I touched the part where it pains the most at mas sumakit iyon. But it's tolerable. Mukhang kulang lang ako sa warm-up.
"Narinig mo?"
Nabaling ako kay Marie dahil sa sinabi. "Ang alin?"
"They're gonna put you as the center."
My face turned sour. Ayaw ko maging center. Hassle dahil palaging mahihirap ang routine at kailangang palaging naka-ngiti.
"I thought it's Ate Jade?"
"I thought so too.
"What? Hindi na siya makaka sali?"
"Ethel told me she would.
"What?! Eh, ako ngayon ang gagawa no'n?" i asked full of horror.
Ayoko. Okay lang saakin na paminsan-minsang tinatapon at tinatayo sa ere, but the routines of ate Jade is way beyond my capabilities! How could i do that?
Tumawa si Marie at binelatan ako. "Yes. But they're still choosing whether it's more applicable for Sara or to you."
"Bakit hindi nalang sa'yo?" i said ang frowned.
